Unilever ice cream business set to begin trading as spin off scheduled

ALN

Unilever PLC on Friday said the demerger of its ice cream business will be completed on Saturday after the US government shutdown caused a delay to its New York listing.

The London-based consumer goods maker said shares in Magnum Ice Cream Co NV, which also includes the brands Ben & Jerry’s and Wall’s, will start trading in Amsterdam, London and New York on Monday.

This is on the Euronext Amsterdam, the London Stock Exchange’s Main Market and the New York Stock Exchange.

Magnum Ice Cream had been on track to begin operating by mid-November.

However, the US government shutdown prevented the US Securities and Exchange Commission from allowing it to begin trading on Wall Street.

Unilever added it will consolidate its existing issued share capital on Tuesday.

Shares in Unilever rose 0.4% to 4,447.00 on Friday morning in London.
