IN BRIEF: Gemfields emerald revenue up after auction amid challenges

ALN

Gemfields Group Ltd - London-based miner and marketer of coloured gemstones - Generates revenue of $25.4 million at an emerald auction held between November 17 and December 4, 2025, up 55% from $16.4 million at a sale from April 11 to April 29. Says 45 lots were sold of the 46 lots offered for sale, at an average $7.46 per carat. Gemfields has conducted only two emerald auctions this year. Emeralds were extracted from Zambian-based Kagem Mining Ltd, which is 75% owned by Gemfields.

‘Today’s auction results mark a successful conclusion to a challenging year for Kagem,’ says Adrian Banks, managing director of product & sales. ‘Following the temporary suspension of mining operations during the first half, the business has nonetheless delivered a strong performance for 2025, culminating in this auction’s solid contribution to $79 million of total Kagem auction revenues for 2025,’ Banks says.
