PRESS: Next in talks to buy shoe shop chain Russell & Bromley - Sky

ALN

Next PLC is among the parties in talks to potentially acquire shoe retailer Russell & Bromley, Sky News reported on Saturday.

Next, which closed up 0.2% at 13,595.00 pence per share and has a £16.65 billion market capitalisation, ‘has defied the wider high street gloom to become one of the UK’s best-run businesses,’ Sky claimed.

The Leicester, England-based clothing retailer owns various retail brands, including FatFace, Cath Kidston, Joules and Seraphine.

Sky said it could not reach Russell & Bromley or Interpath, the advisory firm it recently engaged ‘to explore options for raising new financing,’ and that Next declined to comment.

‘City sources said this weekend that a number of other suitors were also in the frame to make an investment in the chain, although their identities were unclear,’ Sky said.
