IN BRIEF: SSE gets £1 billion debt facility for Scotland grid work

SSE PLC - Perth, Scotland-based electricity generator - Signs £1 billion 12-year bank facility with a group of its relationship banks, led by Bank of America Corp. The facility is back by a £800 million financial guarantee from the UK government’s National Wealth Fund and is ring-fenced as a ’green loan’ to support SSEN Transmission projects. The funds will be used for grid upgrade projects taking place in the the north of Scotland. As part of that work, Orkney island will be connected to the UK transmission grid for the first time, SSE notes.
