Octopus Renewables agrees stake disposals, targets debt reduction

ALN

Octopus Renewables Infrastructure Trust PLC on Monday announced the disposals of stakes in two assets, bringing its 2025 sales proceeds to £74.3 million.

The London-based investment company, which is focused on European and Australian renewable energy assets, said it has agreed to sell a 49% stake in the 67 megawatt Breach solar farm in Cambridgeshire, England.

The investment trust is also set to dispose of its entire 51% holding in the 46 megawatt Crossdykes onshore wind farm in Scotland.

Octopus Renewables is selling the 49% stake in Breach to Japanese financial services company, Tokyo Century Corp, which is also purchasing 49% of the stake it is selling in Crossdykes.

The company has agreed to sell the remaining 2% of the Crossdykes holding to the Octopus Energy Generation-managed Octopus Renewables Infrastructure SCSp fund, at the same valuation.

This fund already owns 49% of the asset, the trust said, adding that completion is expected to occur next week.

Both sales were agreed at levels in line with their holding valuations, Octopus Renewables noted, bringing its total sales proceeds during 2025 to £74.3 million, inclusive of deferred components.

Proceeds from the disposals are earmarked for paying down leverage, the investment trust said, aligning with its capital allocation objectives set out in March.

Shares in Octopus Renewables were 0.4% lower at 58.28 pence on Monday afternoon in London.

‘We are delighted to have completed these asset sales, representing continued delivery of ORIT’s capital recycling programme, and realising total proceeds of £74 million in 2025,’ said Chair Philip Austin. ‘This also reinforces confidence in our underlying asset valuations and discussions with prospective buyers for other assets continue to progress.

‘These divestments will enable ORIT to reduce debt and move forward with investment into higher-growth opportunities, which the manager is already pursuing as a key part of our ’ORIT 2030’ strategy.’
