IN BRIEF: Tesco shares start trading on US OTC market on Monday

ALN

Tesco PLC - Welwyn Garden City, England-based supermarket chain - Shares start trading on the OTCQX Best Market in New York on Monday. The stock market is owned by OTC Markets Group Inc, which operates markets trading 12,000 US and international securities. Tesco retains its primary listing in London, and the OTCQX listing gives US investors access. The trades via OTCQX will settle through the London Stock Exchange. OTC Markets notes that shares of UK blue-chips London Stock Exchange Group PLC, Aviva PLC, Compass Group PLC and Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC all trade on OTCQX.

‘As globally recognised issuers look to expand their US investor base, OTCQX offers an accessible, regulated venue that complements - rather than competes with - their home exchange,’ comments Jason Paltrowitz of OTC Markets. ‘Our ’list local, trade global’ model allows companies to access US capital efficiently, while remaining anchored in their domestic markets.’

Current stock price in London: 439.08 pence

12-month change: up 18%
