Hydrogen Utopia signs memorandum with Saudi deployment company

ALN

Hydrogen Utopia International PLC on Tuesday announced it signed a memorandum of understanding with Saudi Arabia-based deployment company Hydrogen Systems LLC.

The London-based developer of technology to convert non-recyclable waste plastics into hydrogen said under the MoU, Hydrogen Systems will provide engineering, procurement & construction services and operations & management support for Hydrogen Utopia’s planned facilities in Saudi Arabia to convert mixed waste and indestructible plastics into hydrogen.

Hydrogen Systems is a hydrogen infrastructure developer and operator of Shell-branded hydrogen refuelling stations.

Hydrogen Utopia said: ‘It is expected that the MoU will support HUI’s engagement with the Saudi Investment Recycling Co, the kingdom’s national waste management entity, laying the groundwork for the intended deployment of its facilities and technology at scale.’

Hydrogen Systems Chief Executive Officer Sattam Alsuwailem said: ‘This collaboration marks a significant step toward advancing sustainable hydrogen solutions in Saudi Arabia. By combining Hydrogen Systems’ regional EPC and O&M expertise with HUI’s proven gasification technology and InEnTec’s process innovation, we aim to deliver cutting-edge projects that convert waste into clean energy, supporting both environmental goals and economic growth.’

Hydrogen Utopia CEO Aleksandra Binkowska said: ‘It is a privilege to be working with a partner as capable and experienced as Hydrogen Systems. Their strong boots-on-the-ground presence in Saudi Arabia and proven ability to deliver and operate hydrogen infrastructure give us real confidence as we move forward. It is also very important to me that their vision aligns closely with InEnTec’s, HUI’s, and our shared commitment to meeting the objectives and criteria of Saudi Vision 2030. Combined with our exclusive rights to InEnTec’s plastic waste-to-hydrogen technology for Saudi Arabia and the wider region, this partnership puts us in a strong position to roll out this technology efficiently and responsibly.’

Hydrogen Utopia shares rose 2.7% to 3.39 pence each on Tuesday afternoon in London.
