Annual fall in Irish producer prices slows to 5.2% in January

The annual decline in producer prices in Ireland decelerated in January as prices returned to monthly growth, data published by the Central Statistics Office showed Monday.

The fall in Irish producer prices slowed to 5.2% on-year in January from 6.4% in December.

Monthly, producer prices rose 1.4% in Ireland in January, after a 0.6% fall in December.

Notably, the fall in wholesale electricity prices accelerated to 24.2% in January from 20.9% in December. Monthly however, electricity prices rose 17.1% in January after an 11.7% fall in December.

The sharpest on-year rise in Irish producer prices in January was in chemicals & chemical products, where they climbed 21%. Meanwhile, producer prices for food products fell 2.3% on-year in January. Producer prices for vegetables & animal oils & fats were down 16.2% on-year in January.
