Nanoco adds Apple as co-party in Shoei US IP infringement litigation

ALN

Nanoco Group PLC on Monday said it added Apple Inc as a co-party in the existing intellectual property infringement litigation brought by Shoei Chemical Inc and Shoei Electronic Materials Inc.

The litigation, brought in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia last November, already saw Shoei filing a declaratory judgement action claiming the non-infringement of certain Nanoco patents.

The Manchester, England-based cadmium-free nanomaterials producer filed a countersuit in early January, seeking damages for the infringement of four US patents.

Nanoco’s board said ‘it is important to emphasise to investors that the move to add Apple as a co party does not increase the materiality or potential value of this claim. It is a step in the litigation that Shoei has brought against Nanoco, prompted by the positions Shoei has taken in the litigation.’

Nanoco shares were up 2.2% to 6.00 pence each on Monday afternoon in London.
