Endeavour reports another fatality at Mana mine in Burkina Faso

ALN

Endeavour Mining PLC on Monday disclosed that one of its contractors died during maintenance work at Mana in Burkina Faso.

The London-based mining company said the worker passed away on Friday, ‘as a result of injuries sustained in an incident that occurred during maintenance activities at the scrapyard at the Mana mine’.

This follows a fatality at the same mine, also during maintenance work, back in February 2024. In line with its statement after that incident, Endeavour said on Monday that it would conduct ‘a comprehensive internal investigation’ and stressed: ‘The health, safety and welfare of our colleagues are our top priority.’

The company was keen to reassure investors that ‘mining and processing activities remain uninterrupted’.

Endeavour shares fell 1.4% to 4,558.00 pence on Monday morning in London.

In January, the firm hiked its second-half dividend to 83 US cents per share, up 46% from 57 cents the year before, bringing 2025’s total payout to $1.45 per share, up 48% from 98 cents for 2024.

Profit was buoyed by high gold prices, giving Endeavour confidence in the ‘ambitious’ plan it had outlined in December to expand beyond West Africa. Potential targets include the Central Asian Orogenic Belt, South America’s Guiana Shield and the West Tethyan Metallogenic Belt in the Balkans.
