Filtronic PLC on Wednesday said it has secured a contract with unnamed existing customer in the European defence sector to provide a new wide-bandwith solution. The Sedgefield, England-based maker of advanced micro electronics said the contract is scheduled for delivery in the 2027 financial year. It has an initial value of £400,000, but volume production is expected to follow. The technology will be produced at the company’s recently opened purpose-built microelectronics facility in Sedgefield. Last week, Filtronic announced it was awarded a contract worth $8.0 million, approximately £6.0 million, by an unnamed US company for its Amplifier technology, agreeing to complete the satellite communication contract next year. Chief Executive Officer Nat Edington said: ‘This latest award from an existing major European defence customer demonstrates continued confidence in our technology and ability to deliver high-quality programmes. ‘The company is increasingly well positioned to address long-term demand for complex, high-performance wideband solutions, reinforcing Filtronic’s strategic position in the expanding defence sector’. Shares in Filtronic were up 1.0% at 194.00 pence each on Wednesday morning in London. Copyright 2026 Alliance News Ltd. All Rights Reserved.
