Haydale shares rise as utility tie-up becomes multi-year deal

ALN

Haydale PLC on Tuesday enjoyed a trading boost after saying it had expanded a utilities partnership into a ‘multi-year framework’.

The Carmarthenshire, Wales-based company focuses on graphene and other nanomaterials with an eye to ‘clean technology’.

Its shares rose 6.4% to 0.30 pence around noon on Tuesday in London, having more that doubled over the past year.

Haydale’s existing tie-up with Wave Utilities involved a three-year schools programme, which started in 2025.

Wave is a joint venture between Anglian Water and Northumbrian Water. According to Haydale, it is currently England’s ‘largest business water retailer’ by volume.

Haydale sees a new exclusivity deal with Wave supporting the company’s SaveMoneyCutCarbon platform, and generating annual recurring revenue of £1.0 million.

It acquired SMCC, the trading name for Intelligent Resource Management Ltd, in an all-share deal announced in 2025. The total consideration for the energy efficiency-focused firm is up to £17.1 million in shares.

‘Through the new agreement, SMCC and Wave have now agreed terms to expand the partnership, with SMCC delivering water efficiency programmes across Wave’s commercial and public sector customer base,’ Haydale explained.

‘As part of this agreement, SMCC has been appointed as Wave’s exclusive external delivery partner for water efficiency audits and has secured right of first refusal on the delivery of funded water efficiency projects, embedding SMCC within Wave’s national rollout.’

Besides fuelling growth in financial 2026, Haydale sees the deal leading to ‘a broader pipeline of identified opportunities’ worth £5.7 million in the medium term.

‘In addition, the partnership provides SMCC with direct access to a large base of commercial and public sector sites, creating opportunities to deliver a broader range of energy-efficiency solutions, including JustHeat, renewables and EV infrastructure,’ Haydale added.

Going forward, the company plans to use this collaborative model with other partners, such as utility firms and financial institutions, with SMCC becoming a ‘platform for large-scale retrofit and resource efficiency initiatives’.

Haydale Chief Executive Simon Turek commented: ‘Wave provides both the scale and the structure to deploy solutions across thousands of sites in a repeatable way, with programmes extending beyond initial audit into ongoing project delivery and broader energy and carbon solutions... This is the model that drives repeatable revenue at scale.’
