3i Infrastructure PLC - Jersey-based infrastructure investor - Board approves the appointment of Andrew Sykes to succeed Richard Laing as chair, the company announces on Wednesday. Sykes, who spent 26 years at Schroders PLC and is currently senior independent director of Intermediate Capital Group PLC (ICG), will join the board as an independent non-executive director & chair designate on July 23. He will be officially appointed chair, effective January 1, when Laing will step down, 3i Infrastructure says. Company further notes that Sykes served as interim chair of ICG from March, 2022 to February, 2023. He will step down from ICG’s board at the end of March next year. ‘After a thorough search for a suitable successor, we are very pleased to appoint Andrew Sykes as chair designate,’ comments Senior Independent Director Stephanie Hazell. ‘Andrew is an experienced director of UK-listed companies, including investment trusts.
