Clean Power Hydrogen exits manufacturing after test site incident

ALN

Clean Power Hydrogen PLC on Friday announced that following an incident at a test site, it has decided to pursue alternative, non-manufacturing commercial activities.

The Doncaster, Yorkshire-based green hydrogen technology and intellectual property company said that on May 29, a unit experienced an unexpected error, triggering a shutdown procedure.

The incident occurred during the third and final stage of factory acceptance testing for its MFE220 1-megawatt unit.

Clean Power Hydrogen said that during the shutdown procedure, the unit experienced an incident that caused significant damage to the equipment.

Following the incident, Clean Power Hydrogen requested that its shares be suspended in London. They remain suspended pending further updates.

The firm said at the time that the incident would ‘materially delay’ the successful completion of the unit’s factory acceptance test.

On Friday, it announced its decision not to restart activities relating to factory acceptance testing for the MFE220 electrolyser and instead pursue alternative, non-manufacturing commercial activities.

The company added that its working capital remains constrained, amid material uncertainty over continuing operations whilst discussions with capital providers are ongoing.

It added: ‘The board believes that the company’s existing intellectual property, including six patent families across twelve countries, licensees, copyrights, designs, schematics, commercial relationships and more than a decade of accumulated technical knowhow have significant commercial value.

‘As such, the company is now actively evaluating options to maximise the value from its intellectual property and related assets, including potential commercial, licensing and strategic alternatives, which will be in the best interests of shareholders and other stakeholders.’
