Zephyr Energy PLC on Tuesday said it has taken a key step towards first gas production at its Paradox project in Utah after completing an inspection of the export pipeline connected to the field. The Rocky Mountain region-focused oil and gas company that aims for responsible resource development and carbon-neutral operations said a team supervised by Enbridge Inc completed a technical evaluation of a 20.9-mile pipeline linking Zephyr’s Powerline Road gas plant to the Northwest Pipeline operated by Williams Companies Inc. The in-line inspection confirmed the pipeline is structurally sound at its current operating pressure, with no repairs required and no immediate integrity concerns. Shares in Zephyr were up 7.5% at 3.17 pence in London on Tuesday morning. To allow operation at the higher pressure needed to transport gas from the Paradox project to the Northwest Pipeline, four short sections of pipeline, totalling 25 feet, have been identified for visual inspection. Completion of the inspection has enabled the start of the regulatory approval process required to increase pipeline operating pressure and begin transporting gas to market. Zephyr said it will provide an update on the timing of first gas once it receives further guidance from Enbridge on the approval schedule. The company added that Enbridge has continued piping and mechanical upgrades needed to transport gas from the project. Over the coming weeks, Zephyr and its consultants will finalise the design and initial capacity of a gas-processing solution, while planning additional wells and discussing asset-level funding opportunities.
