PRESS: BP interim chair may aim for permanent role - Sky News

ALN

BP PLC’s Ian Tyler may put himself forward for the permanent chair role at the oil major, six weeks after the ousting of Albert Manifold from the post, Sky News reported on Monday.

Manifold’s unexpected departure came after ‘serious concerns’ were raised to the board ‘related to important governance standards, oversight and conduct,’ the London-based oil major said at the time. The former chair has denied all allegations.

Tyler, who became interim chair in late May, has indicated that he is open to staying in the role on a permanent basis, Sky News said it has learned.

However, Sky said it was unclear whether Tyler has officially put himself into contention.

BP told Sky that its board ‘is undertaking a comprehensive search process,’ but that ‘BP will not be providing a running commentary.’

Senior Independent Director Amanda Blanc is overseeing the recruitment process.

BP shares were flat at 467.25 pence on Monday afternoon in London. The stock has lost 14% over the past month.
