ALN

Ireland’s annual consumer price inflation rate eased slightly in June, but still sits above 3%, numbers on Thursday showed.

The Central Statistics Office said the pace of consumer price inflation cooled to 3.4% last month, from 3.6% in May.

The consumer price inflation rate in Ireland has sat above 3% since the onset of the Middle East conflict, surging to 3.6% in March from 2.7% in February. It then accelerated to 3.7% in April.

On-month, consumer prices rose 0.3% in June. They had fallen 0.1% in May from April.

On a harmonised basis, allowing for EU-wide comparison, consumer prices rose 3.2% on-year last month, below the CSO’s flash estimate of 3.3%, and cooling from a 3.5% increase in May. Prices from 0.3% monthly on a harmonised basis, after a 0.2% decline in May.
