Some 14 government buildings across the UK were closed in the last year as part of a savings drive. Temple Chambers and 10 Victoria Street in London have both been emptied while Bridge House in Guildford and 7 Park Row in Leeds were also exited after the lease expired in 2025. Shuttering 10 Victoria Street alone is expected to save £8.8 million a year while the wider changes are said to contribute to a £43.1 million reduction in costs across the government estate. Minister Anna Turley said: ‘By reducing our reliance on inefficient London offices, we are creating a leaner, fairer government estate that belongs to the whole country. ‘We have reshaped our estate to drive economic growth in every region, ensuring a career in the Civil Service is accessible to talent right across the UK, not just within Whitehall.’ The 14 closed buildings include four in the capital and 10 from across the regions.
