S&P: No rating, outlook change for airlines

AFX

SAN FRANCISCO (AFX) -- While Standard & Poor's credit analysts expect that Thursday's bombings in London could hurt transatlantic travel, debt ratings changes or outlook changes aren't expected for the carriers that count heavily on that market. S&P said that United Airlines , American Airlines and Continental Airlines count London as their biggest European destination. 'Unfortunately, the attacks come in the midst of the peak summer travel season, and affect a market -- transatlantic travel -- that has been much more profitable than the airlines' core domestic markets,' wrote S&P analysts. In afternoon action, the Amex Airline Index fell 0.7% to 46.10 points. This story was supplied by MarketWatch. For further information see www.marketwatch.com.
