Amex Airline Index paces early market gains

SAN FRANCISCO (AFX) -- The Amex Airline Index added 0.5% to 48.18 points Wednesday morning as the sector's main measure paced the broader market higher. Early movers included Northwest Airlines , up 0.9% to $4.55, and Continental Airlines , up 0.5% to $14.17.
