AirTran up 4.5%, leads airline stocks skyward

SAN FRANCISCO (AFX) -- AirTran Holdings rose 4.5% to $10.45 in Tuesday trading as the strongest percentage gainer in the Amex Airline Index , which rose 1.4% to 51.82 points. Ahead of quarterly results due out Wednesday, AMR Corp and Continental Airlines both rose.
