Airline stocks lifted by AMR, Continental profits

SAN FRANCSICO (AFX) -- Airline stocks traded higher on Wednesday as profits from AMR Corp. and Continental Airlines helped lift the sector. AMR gained 3% to $14.66 while Continental added 4.9% to $16.47. The Amex Airline Index rose 2% to 53.07 points.
