Fund Objective

The investment objective of the Fund is to achieve long-term capital growth by investing globally. The Fund will seek to achieve its investment objective by investing across a range of asset classes such as equities and equity related securities, fixed income, currencies, deposits, cash and money market instruments. Exposure may be gained indirectly to alternative investments. While the Fund will aim to diversify its investments, allocation to certain asset classes, countries, including developed and emerging markets, or sectors may be more than 30% of its total assets depending on the Investment Manager’s assessment at different times. In order to implement the investment policy the Fund may gain exposure directly and/or indirectly through transferable securities, or collective investment schemes. It may also use derivatives including futures, options, swaps, warrants and forward contracts for efficient portfolio management and for investment purposes.

Fund Managers

Malcolm Herring

Malcolm is a member of the Multi Asset Group. Malcolm's broad experience has included being involved in the management and marketing of charitable fund services for over 25 years. His current responsibilities include managing the Targeted Return Common Investment Fund. Malcolm joined the UK Equity research department in 1979 and the portfolio management team in 1981 when he started managing pension fund portfolios. Malcolm was involved on the boards of several property unit trusts and he also previously ran a specialist investment trust. He joined Barings after graduating from the London School of Economics in 1979 with a BSc. (Econ). Monetary Economics.

Alison El-Araby

Alison El-Araby is an Investment Manager in the Multi Asset Group where she manages the Dynamic Capital Growth Fund. Alison is also involved in the management of a number of other multi asset portfolios, including charity portfolios, some of which have specific income targets. Alison is a member of the Strategic Policy Group (SPG), the company’s global macro research and asset allocation team. She also chairs the Asset Class Research Subgroup and is a member of the Equity and Fixed Income Research Groups. Alison has worked in the industry since 2004. Prior to joining the firm in 2012, Alison spent over seven years at TT International Investment Management, initially as a risk and performance analyst, before becoming a general Pan-European Equity Analyst in 2008. Alison has a first class MSci in Physics from the University of Bristol and is a member of the CFA Institute.
