Fund Objective

The MI Momentum Focus 5 Fund aims to deliver a real return for investors over the medium to long term of CPI +5% net of fees, with anticipated volatility in the range of 8-11%. The Fund aims to operate within the 'low medium' risk profile as defined by Distribution Technology, the independent fund rating agency. The Fund will invest across a range of asset classes using third party investment funds, and is classified in the IA Flexible Investment sector. The minimum investment horizon for the Fund should be thought of as six years.

Fund Managers

James Klempster

James joined Momentum in 2007 and celebrates almost 14 years with the business. As Director: Investment Management, he now leads the strategy for Momentum’s global investment solutions and is responsible for performance delivery and day to day operation of the Global Investment Management Division. He has a passion for Outcome-based investing and is driven to ensure the business remains client-centric, heavily focused on achieving client’s real-life goals. James believes that a key focus on delivering client returns alongside unparalleled client relationships and first rate administration is essential to ensure clients stay invested to their desired outcome. His strong track record and in depth knowledge has also led to him becoming a key spokesperson for the company, featuring regularly in the press and television. James also presents at various conferences all over the world. James has an MA in Jurisprudence from the University of Oxford and is a CFA Charterholder.

Alex Harvey

Alex is a co-head of research and a portfolio manager of the UK domiciled Focus Funds and Momentum’s Managed Portfolio Service. Alex is also the lead portfolio manager for a number of our fixed income funds and portfolios managed out of London including the Momentum Global Fixed Income Fund and the Momentum International Income fund. Alex coordinates the international investment strategy and asset allocation process, liaising closely with the strategy and investment team in SA. Alex regularly appears in the press and presents at conferences all over the world. He joined Momentum in September 2007 having previously worked as Futures Portfolio Manager at JP Morgan Asset Management in London, where he started his investment career in 1998. Alex is a CFA charterholder.
