The Property Income Trust for Charities is a tax efficient unit trust for charity investors that preserves their SDLT exemption from property purchases. The Fund aims to deliver a relatively high and sustainable income yield whilst at least maintaining capital value in real terms over the economic cycle. The Fund operates both ethical and environmental policies and seeks to be a socially responsible investor.
James Thornton
James Thornton has over 35 years’ experience in UK commercial property. James spent the first 15 years of his career at Jones Lang Wootton (now JLL), 11 of which were in its investment management division, JLW Fund Management. In 1996, James joined Savills, where he was appointed Director of Fund Management, a role he performed for 6 years. James co-founded Mayfair Capital in 2002 and became Chief Executive in April 2014 having previously performed the role of Chief Investment Officer and sits on Mayfair's Investment Risk Committee. Following the acquisition of Mayfair Capital by Swiss Life in November 2016, James, in his role as UK country head, sits on the Pan European Management Committee for Real Estate (MCRE) the Investment Risk Committee (ICRE) and the Product and new Business Board (REF PB). James is also Fund Director for Mayfair Capital’s flagship Fund the Property Income Trust for Charities, a bespoke Fund for charity investors. This Fund operates within strong ethical and environmental criteria. Given Mayfair‘s commitment to the charity sector, James is a Committee Member of the Charity Investors’ Group which is committed to education for charity trustees and their advisers. James is also Fund Director for MC Residential 2 (MCR2) an opportunistic Fund which provides preferred equity to developers in central London residential. James is FCA authorised and is a member of the RICS and the Investment Property Forum. He has always had an interest in fund management and financial markets in a wider context than real estate.
Simon Martindale
Simon joined Mayfair Capital in 2012 and is the Fund Manager of PITCH. He is responsible for formulating and implementing the fund investment strategy, investor reporting and portfolio analysis whilst also overseeing all acquisition, disposal and asset management activities. Simon has over 14 years’ experience in commercial property and previously worked at DTZ (now Cushman & Wakefield) and Edward Symmons (now LSH). Simon attended the University of Newcastle upon Tyne and completed a postgraduate degree at London South Bank University.
