The fund aims to provide capital growth by investing in equities of companies worldwide. The fund invests at least 80% of its assets in equities of companies worldwide. Alpha' funds invest in companies in which the investment manager has a high conviction that the current share price does not reflect the future prospects for that business. The fund typically holds 25 to 40 companies. The investment manager seeks to identify investment opportunities based on themes such as climate change, changes to population demographics and the rising importance of emerging market countries. The fund may also invest in collective investment schemes, bonds and warrants, and hold cash. The fund may use derivatives with the aim of reducing risk or managing the fund more efficiently.
Charles Somers
Joined Schroders in 1998 Investment career commenced in 1998 Currently Global Sector Specialist with responsibility for the consumer discretionary and consumer staples sectors, returning to Schroders to take up this role in 2008 and fund manager for Global Demographics equity strategy. Based in London. Charles left Schroders in 2006 to become a fund manager at Intrinsic Value Investors, a long-only fund management company focused on European equities. Before this, from 2002 Charles worked as an analyst with Schroders’ Pan European research team where he had responsibility for consumer staples. In 2001 he was seconded to the New York office, responsible for covering the healthcare and financials sectors. Charles initially joined Schroders in 1998 as a US equity analyst based in London. CFA charterholder. Degree in Classics, Oxford University.
Alex Tedder
Alex Tedder is Head and CIO of Global & US Large-Cap Equities at Schroders, based in London. He joined Schroders in 2014. Alex was Senior Vice President and Senior Portfolio Manager at American Century Investments from 2006 to 2014. He was previously Managing Director at Deutsche Asset Management Ltd from 1995 to 2005. He was previously European Analyst at Schroder Investment Management Ltd from 1990 to 1994.MA in Economics and Business Administration University of Freiburg, Switzerland.
