The Fund aims to provide capital growth over the long term. Performance target: To outperform the MSCI All Countries Asia Pacific ex Japan Index by at least 2% per annum, before the deduction of charges, over any 5 year period. The Fund invests at least 80% of its assets in a concentrated portfolio of shares (also known as equities) of companies, of any size, in any industry, in the Asia Pacific region (including the Indian subcontinent and Australasia, but excluding Japan). Companies will be incorporated, headquartered, listed on an exchange in, or deriving significant revenue from, this region. The portfolio may be concentrated in terms of its number of holdings and/or the size of its largest holdings. The Fund is actively managed with reference to the MSCI All Countries Asia Pacific ex Japan Index, which is broadly representative of the companies in which it may invest, as this forms the basis of the Fund’s performance target. The investment manager has discretion to choose investments for the Fund with weightings different to the index or not in the index. As an additional means of assessing the performance of the Fund, the IA Asia Pacific ex Japan sector average, which is based on a peer group of broadly similar funds, may also provide a useful comparator.
Andrew Gillan
Andrew Gillan is Head of Asia ex Japan Equities and a Portfolio Manager at Janus Henderson Investors responsible for the Asia Equity strategy. He has held this position since joining Henderson in 2014. Prior to Henderson, he was with Aberdeen Asset Management as an Asia and emerging markets equity fund manager and served as lead manager of an Asian investment trust. Before this, he was a graduate trainee in the UK equities division at Murray Johnstone. Andrew received an MA in French and European history with joint honors from the University of Edinburgh. He has 20 years of financial industry experience.
Mervyn Koh
Mervyn Koh is an Portfolio Manager on the Asia Equity strategy at Janus Henderson Investors, a position he has held since 2017. Prior to joining Henderson in 2015 as an associate investment manager, Mervyn was with Franklin Templeton Investments, where he was vice president in the emerging markets group. In this role, he was responsible for research in the Singapore and Indonesian equity markets as well as for co-managing a Southeast Asia fund. Before this, he was an investment analyst at Tokio Marine Asset Management International responsible for research in the India equity market and commodity-related stocks in Southeast Asia and Australia. He began his career in 2006 as an associate at the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation. Mervyn holds a BSc degree (Hons) in mechanical engineering from the National University of Singapore and a graduate diploma in financial management from the Singapore Institute of Management. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and has 14 years of financial industry experience.
