The fund aims to achieve capital growth by predominantly investing into the equities of companies exposed to the Asia Pacific. This includes companies based outside of the region who derive an economic benefit from countries in the Asia Pacific. The fund is intended to be invested with only limited or no exposure to equities issued by companies in Japan.
Martin Lau
Martin Lau is a Managing Partner, FSSA Investment Managers (FSSA) and is based in Hong Kong. FSSA Investment Managers is part of the Group. Martin is a member of the Enterprise Leadership Team. Martin has more than 20 years of investment experience and has been with the team for almost 16 years, starting with the firm as Director, Greater China Equities in 2002. Martin is the lead portfolio manager for a number of funds covering Greater China and the Asia Pacific region. He is also responsible for supervising and directly managing FSSA Investment Managers' team of research analysts and portfolio managers. Before joining the firm Martin was a fund manager at Invesco Asia, where he was the country specialist for Hong Kong, China and Taiwan. BA (Cambridge University), MSE (Cambridge University) and CFA charterholder.
Alistair Thompson
Alistair Thompson is a Director of First State Stewart Asia, part of First State Investments. Alistair has been managing Asia Pacific portfolios for more than 27 years. He joined the FSSA team in January 2003, initially based in the Edinburgh office. He subsequently moved to Singapore in December 2003 has been based in Asia since then. Alistair is co-manager of the First State Asia Opportunities Fund, First State Asian Growth Fund and the First State Singapore and Malaysia Growth Fund. He is also responsible for managing a number of Asia Pacific Select portfolios on behalf of key client segregated accounts. Alistair was lead manager of the First State Asian Growth Fund from 2003-2013. Alistair holds a Diploma in Fund Management from the Securities Institute of London.
