Yes there are plenty out there just put "usb3 to hdmi adapter" or similar into google.

You can also buy a mini display to HDMI cable which may help with your DELL - I assume you mean XPS and not SPS?

Investoree - 09 Mar 2015 15:52 - 10823 of 11003

Thanks skinny and congratulations for noticing my deliberate typo, sadly there is no prize available other than my eternal gratitude. Yes I meant XPS not SPS for the DELL laptop. My other dilemma is whether to stick with purchasing a conventional laptop or go for a two in one tablet/laptop such as the Lenovo Yoga Pro 3 with the improved hinge design or the previous Yoga Pro 2 model which seems to have better like for like performance and currently seems to cost less as they are presumably trying to clear out the old stocks. Any suggestions would be most welcome IE.

skinny - 09 Mar 2015 15:58 - 10824 of 11003

I cannot help you there - much is down to personal preference - as for looking for discounted older models - google is your friend! :-)

Investoree - 09 Mar 2015 16:25 - 10825 of 11003

Thanks Skinny will persevere with Google etc.

Hi all, I've used CCCleaner on my PC for years and it's one button clear all function is wonderful. BUT, it's only in Beta form for tablet and android phone which is not suitable for my mate with his tablet and little knowledge. Who has the best, do all in one function and simple tablet cleaner thats free. Thanks all for looking.,.

There is a new CCleaner Android version just out:

Here are some alternatives for cleaning Android devices:

Any suggestions on how to get rid of Istartsurf would be very welcome. It has wiped out my other browsers and I have tried the obvious uninstall from Programs action with no effect. It is playing havoc with my PC. Thank you....

skinny - 06 Apr 2015 15:15 - 10829 of 11003

Have a look here

jj50 - 06 Apr 2015 16:19 - 10830 of 11003

Thanks, Skinny. No progress. Istartsurf seems deeply embedded. It
blocks System Restore too.

Haystack - 06 Apr 2015 16:32 - 10831 of 11003

I have just removed something similar from my son's computer.

Right click on the icon that starts your browser and view properties. Often the highjacker adds arguments after the call to the exe. If that is the case then just edit the call. Have a look at any browser addons under tools/settings. You may see an extension or search provider.

Otherwise try this. Bleepingcomputer is a very good virus web site

A follow up to the problems of IStartSurf. Thanks for your help but after two days trying all the options, I was defeated and took it to the PC geeks in town to get rid of the malware. They were unable to get anywhere and ended up doing a total wipe today.

I have Windows 8.1 and am pretty happy with it.
Today I had a popup from Microsoft offering me free Windows 10 download for a limited period. The offer is to register now and download after 29th July. Has anyone any thoughts as to why they are offering it free? I am always very sceptical as to why things are free........

Haystack - 16 Jul 2015 20:53 - 10834 of 11003

I guess you will be testing it!

HARRYCAT - 16 Jul 2015 21:32 - 10835 of 11003

I don't think it's a Beta version.....but I may be wrong.

Haystack - 16 Jul 2015 22:01 - 10836 of 11003

Even so. The first users will be finding the bugs for the first service pack.

deltazero - 16 Jul 2015 22:35 - 10837 of 11003

ha! dont expect everything to work if you are going from w7 / 8 to w10 and some of the others - there should be a tool that checks what your hw is running prior to upgrade that should advise what may not work post w10 install - personally gonna leave as is and just buy a new machine with w10 on - the cost and inconvenience of losing programs and apps is too high risk imo
wonder if ms stock will reverse :-)
gl whatever you do

skinny - 17 Jul 2015 05:32 - 10838 of 11003

Harry - it first appeared in the system tray on June 1st - have a look here for plenty on Windows 10 - as mentioned above, you/we will be at the very least, user acceptance testing and at worst - system testing!

Sounds good. "It's 'Life' Jim, but not as we know it."

Can anyone recommend a reasonable free Photo + scanner software?
I need it to run on a PC with Windows Vista, preferably not a 30 day trial version and preferably not with loads of add on applications.
Am currently running a really old program called 'Photofiltre' which is now so out of date that the drivers are struggling with current scanners / printers.
All I really need it to do is run the scanner when copying docs and photos and have the ability to do basic tasks such as rotate, sharpen etc.
Possibly GIMP?
