So several months have passed... Based on the success of last Summer's Event at Longcliffe G.C., a few of you have asked me to take over the reigns from PTH and organise another G0LF M0NEY-AM DAY again based in the MIDLANDS. This is fairEST to the majority coming from all over the UK! From initial feedback (reflecting on 2005 36-Hole hot mid-Summer's day!), the popular view for a 2006 Event has been agreed, as follows: -

* Tea/Coffee on arrival.
* 9 Holes (4BBB 3/4 Stab.) Comp.
* Sandwiches/Lunch.
** 18 Holes (MAIN INDIVIDUAL (FULL HANDICAP) STABLEFORD EVENT) with M-AM and Golfing Prizes for Winners, incl. "Nearest-to-the-Pin" on the 9th. Hole and "The-Longest-Drive" on the 18th. Hole.
* 3-Course Evening Dinner (full waitress service), incl. coffee & mints + Prize Presentation/Mic. Table.

The Overall Winner will get The Money-AM Annual Golf Challenge Cup to keep for good plus 1 year's worth of Money-AM Level 2 service worth 357.50 + Vat. The Runner-Up and Third Placed Winners will each get a medal to keep plus 6 months' level 2.)

You will be fine, Fundy - anyway where's my cheque? That should speed up your recovery process knowing you are committed to joining the Motley Crew in June! :o) BTW, Steve, my game is built on 90% "short game" - the only reason why I am playing off single figures!

BTW may one enquire as to what is your exact handicap, Dr. Rod?)

Mark

The reason your game is 90% short is that you hit the ball like a girl off the tee - no further than 50 yds.

pth

markusantonius - 04 Mar 2006 18:44 - 115 of 505

Well, like I always say to you, Pete: "Just show us your handicap certificate, mate!". Besides it is "short GAME" not "short" = big difference, amigo. Anyway you have 8+ shots to catch up on me so when you get down to the < 1% of the World's best amateur golfers who can play off a single figure handicap, then, and only then, can you really be entitled to start taking the p***! Golf is game of Power AND Accuracy and I would much rather be 230 yards down the middle of the fairway than 280 yards stuck stimied right behind a tree. :o)

Fundamentalist - 04 Mar 2006 19:37 - 116 of 505

230 yds - do you wear a skirt on the course ?

EWRobson - 04 Mar 2006 20:06 - 117 of 505

Notice too that he says 'down' the fairway; the fairway is angled steeply down; they ski down in the winter.

markusantonius - 04 Mar 2006 20:28 - 118 of 505

Hey, Guys. I do find all these anti-female retorts most unfair against the weaker s*x. There is no need for such derogatory male chauvinism here, please. Anyway one may not be the longest hitter on "The M-AM Tour" but so what? Show me a scorecard that has hole by hole sketches and descriptions on it? Ans. None, of course, because it's the number written in the column that tells the WHOLE story. Period. Even if I only drove the ball say a paltry 200 yards off the Tee, show me anyone amongst us who can match the "short game Master-Shark"? Ans. No-one!

Reminder of M-AM 2005 Results *on*PTH's*Home*Turf*(Longcliffe G.C.)* : -

3-Man Team Event (a.m.): Markus (+ EWR + Canary9) = Winners c.t. PTH's Team = 4th.
Main Singles Event (p.m.): Markus = 2nd. c.t. PTH = 12th.

I rest my case.

hewittalan6 - 04 Mar 2006 20:32 - 119 of 505

200 yds. Is that a par 7 with me getting a 2 shot start?
Now you know why I aint coming.
I'm in the <1% of golfers whose drive is in single figures and whose handicap is around 280.
Alan

chocolat - 04 Mar 2006 20:38 - 121 of 505

Weaker sex eh, Markiemark?
You're 100% needled more like :))

Hey Alan - don't be such a wuss!
If I can get to bully off - so can you ;)

EWRobson - 04 Mar 2006 20:45 - 122 of 505

lol! Right, though, to make marcus favourite. Home course (one of them), knows the nuances, subleties. Note that he has chosen a course where the key is the short game; just look at the subtleties and the speed of the greens. He'll get us to play the first 9 in the morning, then the first nine again and we start to relax before the crucifying experience of the back nine. If he's within 5 of the lead, he'll win easily. Fundy second so that he organises next year's event and we all clean up at 25/1!

canary9 - 04 Mar 2006 20:46 - 123 of 505

I'll take 10 @ 25/1 on Fundy.................it's amazing how it all comes back when the chips are down!

Fundamentalist - 04 Mar 2006 20:48 - 124 of 505

Eric

nice thought but theres a nasty rumour on the betfair forum that fundy has been bought off and will not place

markus has to be favourite, to be honest from what hes said, im thinking of lumping on at that price - surely its the bet of the century.

as to next year, if Oxford would be a suitable venue id happily host (still have strong ties with my old club there)

Fundamentalist - 04 Mar 2006 20:49 - 125 of 505

Betfair advise markus out to 13/8 as fundy is cut to 20/1

canary - you moved the market!!!

EWRobson - 04 Mar 2006 20:58 - 126 of 505

canary; why don't you put some into SEO: they need help to get moving.
fundy: Oxford fine; accessible from Midlands too.

chocolat - 04 Mar 2006 21:01 - 127 of 505

Now you've done it Fundie - MoneyAM will love you ;)

canary9 - 04 Mar 2006 21:11 - 128 of 505

Eric,I have a very small gamble on SEO, but I think it is riskier than Fundy winning. Very high P/S and no asset backing, although prospects interesting! DGT has done very well for me though and I have top sliced. I can afford 10 EW on you at 5-1 as well!

Fundy, Oxford would be fine for me too!............................Rod

ptholden - 04 Mar 2006 22:45 - 129 of 505

Mrs Mark

I think the short bit was more about your physical stature, you are the only adult I know who uses kiddies clubs!!

Anyway, I have been playing the game just four and a half years as opposed to your thirty two, it wont take me long to catch up! Whooped yer fat butt last time we played as I recall :-)

pth

markusantonius - 05 Mar 2006 00:20 - 130 of 505

People, chill! I turn my head away for 3 hours and return to more posts than a weekly dose of the SEO thread! PTH, you have a very selective memory, quoting distorted, out of context f*cts-NOT. Maybe you could qualify the above by stating that of those 32 years of playing actually < 10 were active, i.e. the rest < a handful of rounds per year. Plus The Shark plays many, many different sports - not just G0LF.

Jeez, I actually make a statement supporting the W0LF Movement and then I even get stick from women's libber, Chockie - I just can't win! :o(

Anyway all this banter is firing me up for June. As PTH's pathetic collapse (5 pts.) during last year's Outward 9 holes (on his home course, remember?) will show, sometimes "home advantage" can count for next to nothing. It's basically: "all on the Day" and scores can and will fluctuate dramatically in the blink of an eye... A 3-putt (c.t. holing a tramliner!), a lost ball here, a poor bounce there, an unfortuitous ricochet and the opposite fortunes for a close contender - and all of a sudden, the Leaderboard is totally changed!

Hey, let's all look forward and enjoy.....................

ptholden - 05 Mar 2006 09:26 - 131 of 505

Mark

You can't have it both ways, you asked me to post to keep the thread at the top, now you are complaining (which just isn't like you at all)

:-)

Considering I will have played 3 games in 6 months by the time this event takes place, I have no aspirations for success and I think Fundy's odds are a bit generous to say the least.

In any event I am looking forward to the day :-)
