How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?
Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

Whatever terms etc may apply Betfair cannot behave negligently and recklessly without incuring liability for the consequences. I believe there has been ample evidence of foreseeable problems likely to recurr so any losses incurred in later races are down to Betfair.
I'm minded to invest 30 in a Small Claims action just to test this out.

I would go ahead and do it. There is a group of us challenging Betfair. I can't believe these issues are out of their control. I stopped very early on as the whole thing stank. After yesterday I promised I would not go near it if it played up.
I was looking at the footy but I think I may even give that a miss over the weekend as my potential liability is much higher there.
I did nip across to Betdaq this afternoon to have a nose but the liquidity is not strong enough there.

I succeeded in getting a 200 refund from Betfair some weeks ago, however that was a slightly different circumstance. A bet didn't show as having been taken when a race turned in running but was later found in the settled list costing me 200 since I had not been able to lay it off. I think that the system was not cancelling bets properly at the time when it went in running and so it was more of a direct malfunction. I just mention this to show that it is sometimes possible to extract compensation from Betfair. I did have to resist attempts to fob me off though.

I'm not sure what their terms are, may be worth exploring. Sure as hell a lot of people that rely on them now for hegding or lay off. Must have been chaos at the racetracks today.

Site appears to be much more stable today. Unfortuntely I have committed to looking after the kids so probably no chance for me to do anything today.

You'll have to pay a babysitter Scrip. Much cheaper than lost opportunities.
