rather than pick out individual stocks to trade, it can often be worthwhile to trade the indices themselves, especially in times of high volatility.
for those so inclined, i attach below charts for FTSE and FTSE 250, though one might equally be tempted to trade Dow or S&P, which is significantly broader in its coverage, or even NASDAQ
for ease of reading, i have attached 1 year and 3 month charts in each instance

Looking increasingly likely that Trump won't survive, imo.
Nixon was impeached 30th Oct 1973, but can't find a chart old enough to see what happened to the DOW.

TRUMP'S BUDGET
today's FT absolutely slates the proposal ..... a short extract below .....
This week, the administration is releasing its first full budget to be sent up to Congress. Unfortunately, even for those who share its goals, it fails to meet the minimum test of seriousness. The budget relies on assumptions for economic growth that are highly ambitious relative to independent forecasts. It suggests cuts to social programmes that are almost certainly politically unworkable. And it appears to contain a basic accounting error arising from its incorporation of the benefits but not the costs of a separate tax plan. The internal incoherence of the budget suggests that it is intended as a message about Mr Trump’s instincts, rather than a practical plan. As such, it is likely to have little specific impact on deliberations in Congress. The message rests on three highly symbolic and highly implausible assumptions.

Non-Farm Payrolls were down yesterday but the Dow was not seemingly affected.

QATAR
seems hypocritical for Saudi to fall out with Qatar given that huge funds are funneled from Saudi to Al Quaeda and similar groups

DOW
looking very shaky
a couple of days ago, it broke quite smartly through 21,500, but yesterday it stuttered and dropped below that by the close
there was a half-hearted attempt to go back north earlier today, but has now fallen back quite sharply to just above 21,400
DAX
to some extent has mirrored DOW, its upper limit being 12,900+ but has now tumbled back to 12,750
this does not augur well for the bulls
