I just had to take a moment off from the last-minute panic present wrapping to wish you all a Merry Christmas, and of course a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year!

Just checked in a we recived a nice xmas present! Upgraded to business class, very nice for such a long flight.

Oh dear, I've checked the weather forecast and it's a no show for a white Christmas for us here in Cheltenham, but the weather is clear and bright.

Somewhat unusually cloudy, temp about 28 degrees, chilling by pool order of day, main meal tonight 6pm at friends, 16 of us, all the stuff you have in UK.

OK, that is breakfast out of the way. I have Christmas dinner on the way, huge joints of pork, beef and a traditional multi-bird roast on the go. If you pop in for the dinner, please leave a generous tip for the spit-boy who has been up all night turning the roasts in front of the fire.

Only a couple of misshaps with the crimbo dinner. I bought some foil baking dishes to save on the washing up, the dish with the turkey in had a hole in it so when I opened the oven it was swimming in fat. Then I burnt a finger.

Time to relax...
