THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Chuckles.

Which orifice are you thinking out of now?

cynic - 11 Apr 2013 21:28 - 23552 of 81564

Chris - i'm afraid an awful lot more, which is why i never let guests pay for themselves .... walk off the street and your wallet will be significantly lighter! ..... in honesty, because it is a "must play" venue (with good reason), there is an intentional policy to deter casual footfall

i agree i'm very lucky to play there, but having been a member for 40+ years, i would (will?) find it very difficult to give up

btw, one of my clients has half promised me a day at Royal Aberdeen when the huskies are put back in kennels :-)

doodle - i don't think you can even play Sunningdale as a casual visitor ..... surely Coombe Hill isn't that expensive or even in the same league ..... The Berkshire is great - I play it several times a year - and I doubt it's that expensive; ace lunch too!

ahem! .... i'm afraid £150 won't get you to play Wentworth as a casual, except maybe after dark and not on the West!! :-)

fred - i stand by what i said about sticky having put his bag of potatoes on his shoulder all his ownsome ..... he has a brain, so if he cannot get or see past his blind prejudices borne of ignorance, who is to blame?

doodlebug4 - 11 Apr 2013 21:32 - 23553 of 81564

Some very good golf courses where you are Chris, apart from Royal Aberdeen you also have Murcar & Cruden Bay, to name just two. I played them all when I lived in Scotland.

fred1new

How is it possible to think out of an orifice?

You tend to talk out of your arse 99% and think 0% of the time

Chris Carson - 11 Apr 2013 21:54 - 23555 of 81564

cynic - give it a few weeks before playing Royal Aberdeen, still a bit baltic up here.

doodlebug - Aye your right, excellant courses up here, very lucky.

Haystack - 11 Apr 2013 22:35 - 23556 of 81564

Question time tonight should be interesting with plenty of question about Margaret Thatcher, especially as it will be in her constituency of Finchley.

Dil - 12 Apr 2013 00:53 - 23557 of 81564

lol this thread is so funny :-)

goldfinger - 12 Apr 2013 01:02 - 23558 of 81564

goldfinger - 12 Apr 2013 01:05 - 23559 of 81564

Dil great to see you posting here,

Dil - 12 Apr 2013 01:07 - 23560 of 81564

Oi Chris ... guess u weren't a fan of a Hatton lol (what a nutter).

But it was idiots like him , Scargill , Benn , etc and the sensible part of the Labour party leaving and forming the SDP that kept her in power.

79 won it as Labour had lost the plot and country was in chaos
83 snap election and wins on back of Falklands
88 split Labour vote with SDP and still no credible opposition

Imo she was as good / bad as every other PM I've endured but her good / bad points were extremity .

Carry on fighting guys sorry for the interuption but ffs Haystack Hitler was more left wing than you.

Dil - 12 Apr 2013 01:10 - 23561 of 81564

And for the record ... no I and the rest of Wales aint happy about receiving a reduced subsidy to pay for her funeral.

Dil - 12 Apr 2013 01:11 - 23562 of 81564

gf ... I'm bored :-)

goldfinger - 12 Apr 2013 01:20 - 23563 of 81564

Dil I think we all are.

goldfinger - 12 Apr 2013 01:22 - 23564 of 81564

No coincidence this thread is so popular.

Were all fed up and bored,

Dil - 12 Apr 2013 01:40 - 23565 of 81564

Only problem I got with this thread gf is Haystack.

Had run ins with u in the past but hey ho each to their own.

Had run ins with Fred in the past but hey ho each to their own.

Was a big fan of Haystack and his stock opinions (MMD springs to mind) but hey ho each to their own.

I'm sure Ghengis Ghan and Hitler had there good points but even their loyal supporters would imo have been more open to their shortcomings than Haystack is with MT.

On the other hand anyone partying because she (MT) has died is out of order , she was no Ghengis Khan or Hitler.

Haystack - 12 Apr 2013 02:53 - 23566 of 81564

MT had her bad points but she brought this country out of chaos. I remember the unburied, the rubbish in the streets, the 3 day week, the grip of the unions, Scargill trying to bring down the government with Soviet money. She came along just when needed and we should be grateful that she did.

Fred1new - 12 Apr 2013 10:02 - 23567 of 81564

Heard last night that Thatcher has clarity of thought and goal.

Somebody added,

So did:

Pinochet

Franco

Stalin

Hitler

Attilla the Hun

Ghenkis Khan

Many almost choked on their pints.

cynic - 12 Apr 2013 10:13 - 23568 of 81564

suggest you read up on GK and the mongols ...... their history is very interesting indeed, and was very far from being (just) destructive

TANKER - 12 Apr 2013 10:34 - 23569 of 81564
