World cup 2010, What chances for the Home sides and Ireland !. (2010)

required field - 12 Oct 2008 18:43

Thought I'd start a football blog, we might keep this going until 2010.....England doing well....did not see the match or even the goals....I'd like Michael owen back in the squad though....and I think Peter Crouch would make a very good substitute...remember against Argentina in Geneva a few years ago....with Michael Owen and some very good movements on and off the ball...they caused havoc.....did see Scotland's missed chance....that could be very costly losing those 2 points !.

You wouldn't be a Portsmouth fan would you ?.

flasher - 23 Jan 2009 11:04 - 239 of 1154

Oh Yes. Judas will only take Spurs so far and that depends on the money he is given, I still hope they beat Man U.

flasher - 24 Jan 2009 20:01 - 240 of 1154

Not a good day for Pompey and Judas, oh well there is always next year.

Couldn't make my our game against the tractor boys yesterday so caught up on
Itv. - how on earth they can be allowed to televise games is beyond me - amateurish coverage, twaddle spoken by the host/"expert", and adverts for the next sporting event they're gonna ruin.

Sky should simply broadcast 2 mins of itv coverage, and their subscriptions would double overnight.

Flashersorry to see you take that attitude towards Harrythe guy saved Portsmouth from a certain relegationwhich also meant he won you the FA Cupthere is no loyalty in footballit is the nature of the beastyou were lucky enough to have the best English Manager we havehe performed miracles for your clubbe grateful!Football Clubs never honoured contracts for Managers that fall shortI admire Portsmouth for making him Freeman of the City
flasher - 23 Jan 2009 09:44 - 237 of 242
There's only one Tony Adams..is that the same Tony Adams that has been quoted over the weekend as sayingI would leave Portsmouth for Feyenoord or Arsenalso not only is he fuc*ing useless as I predicted [see post tabasco - 08 Dec 2008 10:59 - 205 of 242]he actually admits to preferring Feyenoord or Arsenal while still being the Manager of your Club all be it temporally.
By the way I am a West Ham lad that appreciates football excellence without taking it political.have a rethink

Burnley appeal against Tottenham Carling Cup defeat over Jermain Defoe

Exclusive by Alan Nixon 26/01/2009

Burnley are writing to the Football League to ask if Jermain Defoe was eligible to play for Tottenham against them in the Carling Cup semi.

The puzzled Championship outfit want a ruling on whether striker Defoe should have appeared in the second leg - when he was not eligible for the first.

Clarets chiefs have checked rule books and believe they state players must be signed before the 'tie' starts. And as both legs are part of the one result - with aggregate scores and away goals included - they may have a case.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Clipped from the Mirror, question very much if anything will come of it even if Spurs are found guilty but would be interested to know the rules on these things. I'll have a dig around if I get time later.

Flasherlet us talk about your current Managerfootball onlywe will leave out prisonthe fire extinguishers story and being regularly pist at work!
Adams became the manager of Wycombe Wanderers in November 2003. He was unable to prevent the club's relegation to League Two that season 2004 they fall down the table. He resigned from Wycombe in November 2004..2005...coached a trainee Feyenoord reserve/junior side

Now let us talk about HarryIn his first season at the helm he helped Bournemouth escape the drop to the bottom rung of the Football League Bournemouth also caused a shock in the FA Cup when they beat holders Manchester United in the third round. After a couple of seasons of consolidation they ran away with the the league in198687 season. Bournemouth won the Third Division title and gained a club record 97 points
Harry became West Ham Manager in 1994 were he was limited in the transfer market and improved the youth with recognizable players coming through such as.Rio Ferdinand, Joe Cole, Michael Carrick and his nephew Frank LampardHe
finished eighth in 1998... and then enjoyed one of their best seasons when finishing in fifth place and qualifying for the Intertoto Cup. In the 19992000 season West Ham won the Intertoto Cup and qualified for the UEFA Cup
Harry managed your club to the Division One title in the 200203 season, gaining promotion to the Premier League ironically replacing West Ham.
Harry kept Portsmouth in the Premier League in the 200304 first season with a small cluband certainly an achievement Harry had dispute with Portsmouth's over his assistant Jim Smith. and resigned as Portsmouth's manager in November 2004...
Harry returned to your club on 7 December 2005 and pulled off one of the great Houdini acts in avoiding certain relegation.
In the following seasonHarry led Portsmouth to a ninth placed finish which was the club's highest league finish since the 1950sincidentally he could have moved to a bigger club in Newcastlebut declined!!!
In March he led Portsmouth to an FA Cup quarter final victory over Manchester United completing a hat-trick of FA Cup wins over Manchester United and followed this with a semi-final victory over West Bromwich Albion at Wembley Stadium on 5 April
He guided the club to their first FA Cup Final in 69 years... where they beat Cardiff City
A great Manager with a great recordand to make the third and fourth great.
Be Greatful!!!

Tabby
I see you are making friends as usual, its Tabbys way or no way.

I dont see how you could possibly stand by this statement.

"By the way I am a West Ham lad that appreciates football excellence without taking it political.have a rethink"

tabasco - 27 Jan 2009 12:18 - 249 of 1154

JeffI would like to see a team like Portsmouth do wellI was just pointing out factHarry gave the fans an FA Cuptheir first for seven decadesits utter bo**ocks to have a swipe at a manager because he left for a bigger club{choke}how many loyal managers have been given the ding!FFSlook at the players we have lost at West Ham over the yearsI will always be gutted but understand their reasonsI dont want them to go to Man Utd.Chelseaor Spursand then break their leg.Jeffhave you not been disloyal to further your career?and I suspect Flasher hasI believe there is more than a little hypocrisy going on here?
You never miss an opportunity Jeffbut as you have kept it civil and within the realms of a good debateIll take it on the chin

Jeff it is sad that so many talk about hatred between teamsI am a football puristif a team performs I will marvel and enjoyof course I would rather see West Ham win all their gamesbut if Millwall outplay themI will except we were beaten by the better teamwhich is a matter of factit is the idiots that cant except a result or decision.. including West Ham fans that fu*k it up for the restand I am afraid that mentality applies to many subjects in Britain at the moment

jeffmack - 27 Jan 2009 14:12 - 252 of 1154

Tabby
Couldnt disagree about that statement. But there are always teams that you want to beat more than others.

flasher - 27 Jan 2009 18:34 - 254 of 1154

tabasco - 28 Jan 2009 07:46 - 255 of 1154

Good morning all>

Flashercant remember the exact resultI believe from memory he got stuffed by several goalswhat is your point?are you judging his career on one gameHow about that same season he knocked Man Utdthe cup holders out of the FA Cupon your premise of one game that would make him the best manager in the country
While we are on about Man Utd.how about Alex Fergusons first season?well down the leaguejust one away winmedia predicting the boot.it was a good job the board didnt take your short term view!
22 years later as manager of Manchester Unitedhe has also won more trophies than any other manager in the history of English football.
Flasheryou probably have 20-20 visionbut you are a little blind.now you answer me a question
Do you think Portsmouths history would read better if Harry had never joined the club?................nuff said...

required field - 29 Jan 2009 19:23 - 256 of 1154

Do you lot have to be so rude ?....stick to talking about soccer !....surprise of the year to me are the Villa boys......they are going like an Aston Martin...get it !...Aston Martin (O'Neil) ....now with Heskey and if they sign Michael Owen for next season...well Champion contenders next year ?....I think Portsmouth are going down...does not look good for them !.

tabasco - 30 Jan 2009 08:10 - 257 of 1154

RF.football debates are often heatedI was not conscious of being rude or offensiveI believe flashers passion for his club distorted his overview of the Harry/Pompey sagaI tried to point out fact as a judgementbut all debates have their spin on things..
