New bulletinboard now live.

TullettJ (MoneyAM) - 02 Jul 2005 01:46

Hello,

As you can see, we have put the new bulletin boards live.

The migration went smoothly, though it look at little longer than I expected it to!

If you notice any problems on the boards, please post below.

Stormcaller,

I'll look at adding a marker for the blessed threads!

Does it matter which threads are on both boards? do they really need to be identified specifically?

And yes, it's intentional that the profile appears on both sides. Having it uniform makes it easier for everyone :)

I'll see if a cancel button is possible too (surely just clicking 'back' works?)

Jon
You are in serious trouble!
You have messed up the numbering on Pilchards Plaice thread.
Years of dedicated posting down the drain.

Martini,

Opps :)

Sequestor - 02 Jul 2005 16:28 - 29 of 388

any chance you could increase the size of the `T`button on the Stockwatch list, unless I hit it dead centre it doesn`t play, what a grim world we live in eh?

TullettJ (MoneyAM) - 02 Jul 2005 16:30 - 30 of 388

Sequestor,

There's no 'T' button on this bulletin board. What do you mean?

If it's nothing to do with this new BB, you may want to add the comment in the right place?

JT,

Re profile, I suspect that depends on if you ask the individuals who had a seperate profile on each board, or only on one by choice.

Re cancel, just trying to re-introduce consistency of layout and "flavour"

re Top Threads, hadn't realised there was a religious significance.

Re Mirrors, I do data, so such questions are natural, also some posters only sit on one side, and may not be comfortable on both, so won't post.

Re Mirrors, it may be significant to those who subscribe.

TJ - there's nothing else for it - oops doesn't cut it.
You'll just have to go back and renumber them all :)
What've you been doing all day?

ThePlayboy - 02 Jul 2005 18:43 - 33 of 388

I like 90% of the changes, especially the icons next to the name etc, but the blue text on the main page of topics is just awful, like having a bentley in yellow!

TullettJ (MoneyAM) - 02 Jul 2005 18:59 - 34 of 388

StormCaller,

The problem users have had with profiles only being set on one board is that a free user will maybe get contacted by a user who has set up a profile on the Traders' Room but not the Investors' Room and therefore won't be able to reply.

There's no need to put in personal details into the profile, and the email address used in MoneyAM Messenger is kept private so we don't think there's an issue there.

I'm going to try and add a cancel button :)

Regarding 'mirrored' threads (they're not mirrored in the DB, just some threads are set to display on both boards: the IDs for the remain the same on both sides): a thread can only be set to be displayed on both boards by MoneyAM staff, and only threads that are relevant to both boards will be set that way (maintenace threads, beta threads, champ invest stuff, bugs threads), so there shouldn't be any real 'dilution' of worth to the paying subscribers.

I hope this answers your questions.

TP

I agree. It's too abrasive. I know about these things.

TullettJ (MoneyAM) - 02 Jul 2005 19:00 - 36 of 388

ThePlayboy,

The blue colour is exactly the same blue as the old board.

Hmm. Thought I'd found a problem. But maybe not.

STORMCALLER - 03 Jul 2005 00:02 - 38 of 388

JT,

Thanks for replies, was only trying to clarify...

TullettJ (MoneyAM) - 03 Jul 2005 01:30 - 39 of 388

Kyoto,

What possible problem?

J.

ThePlayboy - 03 Jul 2005 08:48 - 40 of 388

no you have def changed the tone:)

Kyoto - 03 Jul 2005 09:40 - 41 of 388

J - nothing major. I broke one of my postings on the following thread:

http://www.moneyam.com/TradersRoom/posts.php?tid=3149 (Post 50)

I'm afraid that somewhere along the line I omitted the closing < / a > from the href and so now the whole edit posting box including the buttons below has become one big hypertext jump to the wrong location. So I can't edit out the problem now because it doesn't work. A bit careless on my part really.

I tried to recreate the problem briefly on this thread - but of course your software always managed to add the < / a > afterwards through its own error correction, so I couldn't replicate it, although obviously it's possible, somehow!

By the way, if I add & lt;/a& gt; into a posting, when I edit again it becomes < / a >, and when I post the edited message, it disappears - so I've had to artificially space the html here.

Walktall - 03 Jul 2005 10:51 - 42 of 388

Congratulations on the changes. The change in brightness of the blue and greys make it much easier to locate my favourite threads.

Ian

When squleching a user, you now have to type in the user name rather than it being an automatic process as before. Any chance of an update?
