HBOS are they worth 49p (HBOS)

Today they have fallen 22% to a new low of 223p ..are they another Marconi..?

Mitzy do not take any notice of the Scotsman. The Scots men must be a little weak as my Scottish wife had to come south to find a real Englishman.They also export real idiots like the PM and Chancellor not to mention the Sec for Defence who send our guys to war with limited equipment.
Their greatest asset is malt whiskey.

The chairman of Lloyds TSB has set out his ambitions to turn the combined group into a top 10 international bank within five years

THE OBSERVER
Unions are demanding urgent meetings with the CEOs of Lloyds TSB and HBOS, as fears grow over the future of the newly merged bank's 140,000 workers

THE MAIL
Midas Column: Hold on to HBOS - Lloyds TSB: HBOS is a bargain, in theory at least

Other comment: City watchdogs are expected to investigate how speculators made 190m profit from HBOS shares two minutes before BBC 'scoop'

Mike Ashley believed to have lost over 200m betting HBOS shares would recover

Andy Hornby, CEO of HBOS, is expected to accept a 'senior boardroom role' once his bank is taken over by Lloyds TSB

THE INDEPENDENT
Lloyds TSB has approached property consultants to close up to 700 high-street branches when the retail bank completes the 12.2bn purchase of rival HBOS later this year

HBOS has 6.6bn of "Alt-A" securities, a US mortgage bond that the market fears could be more toxic than sub-prime debt

HBOS will publish figures next month showing that the decline in house prices from last year's peak now exceeds the fall during the 1990s

very briefly .... after last week's excitment (thank you Lord!), i still cannot see that financials are the right place to put new money .... in fact, there is probably a better argument for shorting the indices
