Israeli Gaza conflict?????? (GAZA)

Fred1new - 06 Jan 2009 19:21

Will this increase or decrease the likelihood of terrorist actions in America, Europe and the rest of the world?

If you were a member of a family murdered in this conflict, would you be seeking revenge?

Should Tzipi Livni and Ehud Olmert, be tried for war crimes if or when this conflict comes to an end?

What will the price of oil be in 4 weeks time?

The Swedish port workers union announced on Friday it would boycott Israeli ships and cargoes in protest at the massacre committed last week against Freedom Flotilla activists.

According to a statement, the union will not handle Israeli cargoes arriving in Swedish ports.

The union ordered workers not to deal with Israeli incoming or outgoing ships or any Israeli goods or cargoes.

It also urged other unions all over the world to follow suit in order to force Israel to respect international law and end its blockade on Gaza.

Haystack: Plionis, who was one of the Greek citizens aboard the Turkish vessel, said, "Israel's priority was to stop scenes of the attack from being broadcasted". He recalled that the Turkish activists spread almost a hundred cameras on the ship which transmitted images systematically. "The broadcast was discontinued when the person who was running the network was killed," he added.

So as soon as these broadcasts from almost 100 cameras surface there will be clarity as to how the violence kicked off. I wonder why they haven't been produced?

Just shown on BBC are pics of Israeli soldiers beaten and their weapons taken .

I am all in favour of aid and the Irish effort was dignified ... this was not .

Haystack - 07 Jun 2010 00:54 - 2650 of 6906

G
"and smashed every last camera". They also took all the mobile phones and have stolen 31 of their passports.

How come so many of the turkish dead were shot in the back and in the head? One Israeli commando killed 6 of the 9 dead. I don't believe any of the story from the commandos.

Snowman - 07 Jun 2010 06:06 - 2651 of 6906

Why did they attack the commando`s ?

To be fair both sides are hiding ... The israeli film stops before the shooting starts .

But , if the idea was to deliver aid , or at least try , attacking the soldiers doesnt seem sensible ... and the film available clearly shows they did .

Fred1new - 07 Jun 2010 09:01 - 2652 of 6906

Snowman,

The people on the first Armarda were in International Waters and were invaded by a group of commandos.

They have a right to resist being taken over and have their equipment destroy or confiscated.

The majority of people would consider resistance if their property is invaded, although, it may be foolish.

Again, the action shows the arrogant misuse of disproportionate force, which the Israelis are prepared to use and with a complete disregard of the lives of other groups.

Israel should be ashamed of itself and the Israelis ashamed that it supports the present administration.

Gausie - 07 Jun 2010 09:30 - 2653 of 6906

Too right Fred - the commandos being clubbed to death should have meekly turned the other cheek. That's what a properly trained commando from a country that doesn't show the arrogant misuse of disproportionate force, ... with a complete disregard of the lives of other groups would have done. Right?

I have just witnessed a video of containers of ais being unloaded in Ashdod-Behind bags of flour or sugar are boxes and boxes of weapons-unbelievable. I will try to post the link. The boarding and seizure was totally justified.

Fahel-what can I say?

yuff - 07 Jun 2010 10:43 - 2655 of 6906

Have patience with this video. First there is a commercial for Pantene! But
wait until it's over. You

Won't believe your eyes.

I think Tony Blair should post on this thread to end this dispute .

Were these containers unloaded under independent scritiny or just while the troops were there? Who videoed the unloading? How much time did Israel have to plant the weapons there?

tyketto - 07 Jun 2010 11:38 - 2662 of 6906

As somebody pointed out on another blog(groups.google)
the date at the start of the video is 04/11/2009.

Isaacs - 07 Jun 2010 11:38 - 2663 of 6906

Good questions Haystack. You should ask similar questions about the loading process as well if you want to be objective.

Haystack - 07 Jun 2010 12:08 - 2664 of 6906

Interesting that the sacks of flour have dates of 2008 on them.

Haystack - 07 Jun 2010 12:15 - 2665 of 6906

LOL

A weak trick to implicate the flotilla.

Here is the same video posted 7 months ago!

Israeli naval commandos intercepted a ship carrying "hundreds of tonnes" of arms which officials said were being sent from Iran to the Hezbollah militia in Lebanon. The haul from the Francop ship is among the largest ever seized by Israel, containing hundreds of ammunition crates packed into shipping containers, many hidden behind sacks of cement.

I haven't seen the video, but I doubt it's either official or genuine.

The ships in this flotilla were not really expecting to get through the blockade IMHO - they may have been hoping that they might get through and create a precedent for subsequent gun running vessels - but I think it more likely that they were instigating and expecting an intifada style dust up. You'll recall that the intifada is a technique used by Palestinian activists in which they hurl rocks and stones at armed soldiers and then film the resulting return of live fire, complaining that the response is disproportionate - presumably on the assertion that a proportionate response from the army would be to throw rocks back.

It would be sheer madness to hide hot weapons on board a ship with such an agenda.
