Referendum : to be in Europe or not to be ?, that is the question ! (REF)

required field - 03 Feb 2016 10:00

Thought I'd start a new thread as this is going to be a major talking point this year...have not made up my mind yet...(unlike bucksfizz)....but thinking of voting for an exit as Europe is not doing Britain any good at all it seems....

cynic - 30 Mar 2016 14:26 - 316 of 12628

and how do you think Tata stand on that?
it seems to me that the management of most companies do not wish to be seen pushing their employees in either direction

"UKIP got the number of votes predicted and the number of seats. their problem is that they are diluted across all constituencies. they have very little concentration apart from pockets of racist in Essex and Kent" ..

For your information a lot of UKIP voters were EX tory...UKIP got more votes then the SNP..Liberal...Clywd Cumri put together...

The SNP won over 50 seats the LibDems 8.....Errrr something not right there!!!!..

As to your(Haystack) derogatory remarks of 'pockets of racist' in Essex and Kent...What do YOU base those facts on??.

Is it that there are some people who wish to defend their way of life, their culture, their jobs....COME ON, DO TELL...

Haystack - 30 Mar 2016 14:55 - 318 of 12628

Getting more votes is not enough. With the votes evenly spread you don't win seats. It is why the Libs do well at times. They have dense concentrations of voters in a small number of constituencies. UKIP would have needed around 25% of the vote to get even 20 MPs. Labour dominate metropolitan areas and the Conservatives dominate rural areas. UKIP have almost no party machinery at local level. They have a mountain to climb to get anywhere.

It's fair to say that the vast majority of UKIP voters will vote to LEAVE, 4m is a nice base to start from.

There was an odd poll a couple weeks ago. They asked people who voted UKIP in the election about the referendum. A surprising 28% said they would vote in. In this case they did ask the right people.

Haystack YOU'VE not answered YOUR accusation of pockets of racist in Essex and Kent??

YOU REALLY DO NEED TO ANSWER YOUR ALLEGATIONS!!!

grannyboy - 30 Mar 2016 15:28 - 324 of 12628

And yes it is an odd poll...Which means it wasn't a true one, by the fact it was before camerons failed 'reforms' negotiations, they were asked if he came back with SUBSTANTIAL reforms would they vote to remain...

GET YOUR FACTS RIGHT...Haystack.

Haystack - 30 Mar 2016 16:01 - 325 of 12628

Well as a long term inhabitant of southern England, even before the bizzare rise of UKIP, it was clear that Essex and Kent contained redneck racists.

grannyboy - 30 Mar 2016 16:14 - 326 of 12628

YOU still have not quantified your accusation and what you constitute as a racist...

Either substantiate them or recinde them!!!....

Fred1new - 30 Mar 2016 16:17 - 327 of 12628

Perhaps, Little Englanders!

grannyboy - 30 Mar 2016 16:17 - 328 of 12628

This quote really shows what a stupid individual YOU are....After accusing UKIP voters of being racist..

"even before the bizzare rise of UKIP"

grannyboy - 30 Mar 2016 16:19 - 329 of 12628

Don't you start the accusations Fred1, because you now need to explain what a 'Little Englanders' means in your warped mind??..

cynic - 30 Mar 2016 16:22 - 330 of 12628

they come from the Garden of England and are rednecks only when picking strawberries in a sunny summer

Fred1new - 30 Mar 2016 16:24 - 331 of 12628

No.

I have no need to do so!

Common parlance and from what I understand from you postings quite applicable.

jimmy b - 30 Mar 2016 16:25 - 332 of 12628

Haystack ,your way out of line calling anyone who thinks Farage has got immigration right a racist.

Grannyboy ,Fred is just plain stupid ,about as daft as a brush . For him anyone who doesn't want to open the UK up to the whole world is Hitler .

grannyboy - 30 Mar 2016 16:33 - 333 of 12628

Fred1 its pretty damn obvious that YOU are one of those liberal lefties who hate anything ENGLISH, you despise anyone who wants to retain some kind of Englishness.

If anyone should say no more to open mass immigration they are accussed of being a racist, if anyone says we should LEAVE the EU we're 'Little Englanders'...

IT'S YOU AND THE REST OF THE SOCIALIST, BLEEDING HEART LIBERALS LEFTIES THAT ARE THE FACIST!!!...

Haystack - 30 Mar 2016 16:38 - 334 of 12628

Farage is a rabble rouser. He appeals to the lowest common denominator in society. UKIP is essentially two parties. Part of the party is about the EU and part is about immigration. Each part attracts different people. Many UKIPers support leaving the EU because of immigration. The party clearly has a racist core. That is not to say to say all of the supporters are racist. It is not a viable long term party but is a pressure group. There are almost no policies beyond the EU and immigration. It appeals to people who are unhappy about those things.

It represents the UK's version of the rise of right wing parties across Europe. This phenomenon has occured before and is a reaction to a reccession. If we were in a boom, no one would care about UKIP.

Haystack - 30 Mar 2016 16:42 - 335 of 12628

UKIP got about 12% of the votes at the GE. I would think that more than 12% of the population are racist. I guess that the rest didn't vote UKIP or at all.
