THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

T
There is no ceasefire. It was imposed by Israel. Hamas wants a truce, which is not the same thing.

TANKER - 17 Jul 2014 10:44 - 43853 of 81564

gold has a pensioner and many friends pensioners .they live on just over 11k a year and pay £200 tax can get no help because they pay tax .those that pay no tax get benefits .so they end up far better off than the pensioners that saved this is a disgrace .the secret is not to save do not put money into a pension spend all your money and let the fools saving pay for your life style .

is this what you mean

goldfinger - 17 Jul 2014 10:46 - 43854 of 81564

What I propose is that people who support these benefit cuts help the poor out and I would have them come around to TANKERS house say monday for a big slap up meal, bring all the kids and boyfreind aswel, Cynics house tuesday , Hays house wednesday, and Hilarys house thursday, and then some others the rest of the week.

Of course a council official would have to do check ups and inspect the level of the food and hopitality with tax sanctions levied on them who werent up to scratch.

I think this is an excelent idea and just think say if an asian family came around to TANKERS house how social cohesion and benefits like social integration could be built.

In the course of time this could be extended to overnight stay aswel with breakfast.

TANKER - 17 Jul 2014 10:47 - 43855 of 81564

hay watch the news HAMAS HAVE BROKEN THE CEASEFIRE FIRING ROCKETS INTO ISRAEL SPOKESPERSON FOR HAMS SAID WE WILL NEVER STOP FIRING ROCKETS INTO ISRAEL .

TANKER - 17 Jul 2014 10:50 - 43856 of 81564

GOLD so you will not answer my post which is fact . the people claiming benefits are better off than those working fact .

so should we tell all oor children spend spend spend do not save do not put money up for retirement the tax payers will pay for your life style . yes or no

Haystack - 17 Jul 2014 10:53 - 43857 of 81564

No, they won't stop firing rockets. After all! They are only firing into land that was stolen from them. One day they will get it back and change the name of the land back to Palestine. If anything, they need to be more aggressive.

cynic - 17 Jul 2014 10:56 - 43858 of 81564

film investment
hard to know which way the court case or tribunal will find
certainly the company invested in "proper" films, a number of which were significant successes
i guess HMRC's line of attack is something to do with the aggressive nature of the leveraging

of course it's the company that has asked for a tribunal, as that will determine the result for all investors

anyway, all very esoteric stuff ...... and no doubt we all remember that ken dodd and harry redknapp won their appeals, at which all were flabbergasted!

goldfinger - 17 Jul 2014 11:01 - 43859 of 81564

They wont bring Osbourne and the government down trust me. Just look at the attempts we have in charitys tried to get IDS to reveal deaths due to his policys over the last 2 years.

We keep winning but he keeps moving the goal posts and going to one court or tuther.

goldfinger - 17 Jul 2014 11:04 - 43860 of 81564

No No TANKER these people get more salary than those on full benefits, its usualy the WORKING PEOPLE who rely on a TOP UP BENEFIT who are suffering most and fall into arrears.

Youve mis understood me.

cynic - 17 Jul 2014 11:06 - 43861 of 81564

it's an interesting case though, probably with quite far-reaching consequences with regard to other "imaginative" tax sheltering (avoidance) schemes

TANKER - 17 Jul 2014 11:48 - 43862 of 81564

gold . no my brother gets £1200 a year pays tax and can get no benefits only heating allowance ,as to pay is rent and rates my friend a lady gets £130 a week pays no tax and gets her rent paid and reduced c/t she is far better off than my brother who worked all is life
the labour government policy of pushing people in to low paid jobs and make up the wage with benefits is the problem .if the job does not pay the min wage then it is not a job .
min wage £248 a week , most pensioners on £ 145 a week and most have to pay their way .

goldfinger - 17 Jul 2014 13:02 - 43863 of 81564

TANKER if your brother gets heating allowance he is getting a benefit.

Thats the only way you become entitled to it.

I think you brother must be telling you a few fibs.

cynic - 17 Jul 2014 13:25 - 43864 of 81564

not if he's 65+ :-)

TANKER - 17 Jul 2014 13:35 - 43865 of 81564

gold no facts to get benefits like housing benefit you have to get pension credits he does not .if you pay tax you get no benefit help .thought you new these things

TANKER - 17 Jul 2014 13:37 - 43866 of 81564

I a 67 and I get no benefits only heating allowance

TANKER - 17 Jul 2014 13:43 - 43867 of 81564

gold you have still not answer my question . should we tell our children to spend their money and not save and rely on the tax payers to foot their bills simple answer YES OR NO

goldfinger - 17 Jul 2014 14:02 - 43868 of 81564

Hes 67 then he does get a benefit he gets a State Pension which is a Benefit dont forget that.

I said the same thing to my auntie and she said she didnt get any benefits, I said I thought you just been to pick your pension up at the post office, I pointed out it was the Biggest benefit of all.

Now your second question yes I get what you are saying they are getting what used to be the supplemantary benefit to top up their basic pension and yes I agree with you on that point its not fair especialy when these people havent paid into the system but unfotunately you just cant kick people out onto the street its up to the working person to make the best investment decisions they can make and hope to outperform the basic payable pension.

cynic - 17 Jul 2014 14:09 - 43869 of 81564

stretching it a bit to call one's pension a benefit but still
what happens if, for whatever reasons, you haven't made (m)any pension contributions during your potential working life?
do you still qualify for a full state pension?

TANKER - 17 Jul 2014 14:12 - 43870 of 81564

CYNIC THEY MAKE IT UP TO £130 AWEEK PLUS FREE RENT AND C.T
