goldfinger - 08 Mar 2013 16:23 - 608 of 1559

Glad I flogged mine yesterday after skinny and cyners said they were out. Cheers mates.

That ninja bloke across the road is Robson for sure having a pop again at cockney rebel.

Im not ruling out getting back in here. Just got to time it right.

cynic - 08 Mar 2013 16:35 - 609 of 1559

the stock is either badly oversold on the back of profit-taking and/or computer-driven selling and/or forced closures ..... or failing that, some heavy inside trading by peeps who KNOW the numbers due on 13th are horrid ...... however, even if "horrid", sharp action has already been taken (shutting stores etc), and if not bad at all, then some prudent arse-kicking to get the company running properly and tautly

doodlebug4 - 08 Mar 2013 17:27 - 610 of 1559

cynic, I have to say that I'm not sure they are planning to close enough stores. I have 10 stores within 9 miles of my postcode and that is probably 5 too many.

cynic - 08 Mar 2013 17:44 - 611 of 1559

you sort of answer the point above and also those who may have taken fright at the news of store closure ...... of course, it may be that 5 of the stores near you will already have been targetted for closure

dreamcatcher - 08 Mar 2013 18:02 - 612 of 1559

Not Bishops Stortford, one of their best and most profitable. In Tenerife now - flew out with TUI on a brand new boeing 737 800 series and see in their brochure on the aircraft that several new dreamliners are on order. Thomas Cook is cutting to the bone, perhaps with a lot more store closures yet and lay offs and the likes of TUI are replacing aircraft and have new on order. Are TC falling behind its rivals ? I sadly know the answer.

halifax - 08 Mar 2013 18:15 - 613 of 1559

joe public doesnt need a travel agent, he is going on line and arranging his custom holiday, which we have been doing for years.

dreamcatcher - 08 Mar 2013 18:28 - 614 of 1559

Also looked on the three screens at Stansted today 60 +(to about 9am) flights all Ryan air and Easy jet except about 6. A lot of the flights going to the holiday destinations. So they are up against real competition.

3 monkies - 08 Mar 2013 18:36 - 615 of 1559

Am I correct in thinking that you are in Tenerife now dc.? By the look of your post 612-614 you are - if so you kept that one quiet and if you are actually there have a good time and get off the computer and enjoy a break.

HARRYCAT - 08 Mar 2013 18:59 - 616 of 1559

h, according to the news today, exactly the opposite is happening now (your post #613). Apparently, though I agree that sorting your own hotel, flight, car rental etc is more economic, people are in fact getting fed up with trawling through websites, many of which require registration and are now happy to leave everything to the travel agent. One of the advantages is that you are covered for travel disruption & missed flight connections if you book via an agent, whereas booking it yourself excludes you from the normal ABTA support. I still prefer to do it all myself, but am in an ever increasing minority.

cynic - 08 Mar 2013 19:47 - 617 of 1559

no one in their right mind flies with RyanAir .... Easyjet is another bucket shop airline ..... may look cheap when you start, but unless hand luggage only, probably no cheaper than BA or any number of other proper airlines - except they prob don't or do not want to use Stansted (or Luton)

doodlebug4 - 08 Mar 2013 20:17 - 618 of 1559

At least with booking through a travel agent like TCG you get what you pay for on the ticket. If you book a flight with Ryanair, Easyjet, Flybe you end up paying a whole load of extras on airport taxes etc. and I cannot be fiddled with all the hassle involved with hand luggage only.

dreamcatcher - 08 Mar 2013 20:58 - 619 of 1559

Hi 3m, yes in Tenerife for the week in Costa Adeje.
Already put on a stone on the first day. lol Impossible to hang your gloves up when you have shares. Need a good break from the weather at home. There are a lot of people with no minds then Cynic as their aircraft are packed. No I would not fly Easyjet or Ryanair, but like a lot of things in the world now, cheap is what people want. Mr David Oleary is an ar-- and against the odds of treating his passengers like
cattle (not to be to rude) has built a growing and successful airline. I would love TC to turn around but just wonder if enough cuts can be made to cut the huge debt pile
and not have it growing again. Whats going to be left?, perhaps they will become a takeover target?

3 monkies - 08 Mar 2013 21:13 - 620 of 1559

Have a good one dc. Don't over -indulge or under indulge, just enjoy. I bet the weather is great - we are supposedly going to have another cold snap - shit I haven't been warm for weeks haha!! I am so emvious.

3 monkies - 08 Mar 2013 21:23 - 621 of 1559

Sorry envious!! Do you have children? Don't wish to be personal but just wondered what it would be like there to take a family and is it far from an airport as am looking for somewhere myself.

dreamcatcher - 08 Mar 2013 21:24 - 622 of 1559

Your ship or boat will come in soon 3m, it will.

dreamcatcher - 08 Mar 2013 21:31 - 623 of 1559

No 3m, my sister has four. Half an hour on the coach from the airport. Knocks spots of Gran Canaria, lovely resort and safe.

3 monkies - 08 Mar 2013 21:37 - 624 of 1559

How wonderful. Might look at that for next winter, if I am still alive and kicking. Enjoy.

dreamcatcher - 08 Mar 2013 21:41 - 625 of 1559

About four and a quarter hrs flight, have a look in your local tour operators.

3 monkies - 08 Mar 2013 21:47 - 626 of 1559

Will do - I would have to fly from Manchester as I don't think Liverpool flies to Tenerife as yet and if I go it would be Christmas time - I hate Christas since I have been on my own so a great escape. Get in the swimming pool and don't put a stone a day on haha!! Bask in the sunshine, eat sleep be merry and relax, these bloody shares will be here when we are not.
