Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).
Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.
cheers GF.

CT - fact or opinion? ...... my bank debit card was recently cloned (easily worked out that it was my local garage), and the replacement is certainly not contactless
likewise, i only bank on line because my bank has a very good security system even to reach my account

coutts ..... their security and systems are excellent
i also don't carry a wallet in the way most do ...... i pretty much rely on cash, even when abroad

cynic - you must not spend much when traveling then as it is illegal to take any decent sum out of the country. :-)
As to the way you carry your wallet - I can only think that you stuff it up your *** poor sods that accept your card thereafter.

airline is prepaid ....... hotel is often prepaid 100%
i only have a bank debit card and an amex charge card which i carry on my person only when likely to be needed
most often, i pay for meals in cash
as for cash limits being taken abroad, i think it's usually $10/20,000 if any limit at all

Exactly, a small amount of cash for a Coutts account holder.

LOL cynic. Do Coutts still want you to keep £500k in Cash and your funds are only protected up to a total of £85k - Is that a good risk for someone concerned about a few minor credit card scams?
Still, only a branch of RBS/NatWest nowadays, as I think I recall them selling off the international side a couple of years ago. Correct me if I am wrong.

Who would trust RBS Bank or any of its subsidiaries?
" In a backbench debate on GRG on Thursday, Sir Vince Cable said the full report mentioned an "incriminating phrase": "Management knew or should have known that this [was] an intended, co-ordinated strategy, the mistreatment of business customers was a result of that, and that the head of GRG responsible for that policy, Mr Nathan Bostock, is now chief executive of Santander."
MPs attacked GRG for treatment which had resulted in customers losing not just their business but often their homes, their marriages or their health.
Labour MP Clive Lewis said: "The cost of this is immeasurable, but we believe it to be in the tens of billions. So let's be clear here. This is the potential size of the injustice that has taken place in our country. If it is this big, it may be the largest theft anywhere, ever."

You don't have to have contactless. I have three bank accounts and two credit cards. When they have sent me new cards with contactless, I contact them and request cards without contactless.

Coutts are not bothered about how much cash you have in your account. They are only interested in assets and more importantly a regular high income. It's a brilliant bank for service.

though it can be argued that banking with Coutts is expensive, i find their service excellent, in all sorts of respects and thus good value

like what and with what substantiation?
if you guys spent half as much time buying or selling or trading shares, instead of wasting so much effort on the the two main twaddle threads, you might have picked up profitably on a least some of the gems that have been mentioned elsewhere - and no, CARD was definitely not one of them!
