Thought I'd start a football blog, we might keep this going until 2010.....England doing well....did not see the match or even the goals....I'd like Michael owen back in the squad though....and I think Peter Crouch would make a very good substitute...remember against Argentina in Geneva a few years ago....with Michael Owen and some very good movements on and off the ball...they caused havoc.....did see Scotland's missed chance....that could be very costly losing those 2 points !.

I dont want to be a smart arsebut I got quite a kicking when I dare suggest that Rooney was not the leader of the packand just a good playerI also said that our World Cup hopes would revolve around DafoeI was convinced he was centre stage to become a World Class playerif Fabio plays him todaywe will winsimple as thatI also said James Milner should be a fixturewe were 1-0 against USAthen in the 30min he was substituted10mins later 1-1...and while we are on subject of their goalanyone remember this post 769...I suggested Robert Green should understudy Jameseven said imo James should be Captainif only!
Here is a couple of posts that are going to look so much more accurate this evening.go on my son3-0 to England if Defoe... Milner and James play!!!!!

Chrisyour statement but to compare him to Rooney on any level just isn't a question!my humble opinion is Defoe is fasterand dramatically so from a standing start turns quickershifts his body weight better needs very little backliftand so shoots a split second quicker than anyoneDefoe is also more disciplined with his teams tactics they are both equally effective with both feetand have the same heading abilityRooney is strongerand tackles much betterRooney has played most of his career with a team that scores a lot of goalsand very rarely losesDefoe has never played for a top four team.so his clubs over the years have scored far less goalsGoal ratios would probably favour Rooneybut they also favour Crouch in an England shirt?

Jermain Defoe illustrated what a handful he is last nightsure he missed a few chancesbut his movement off a tight marking centre forwardmade him unstoppablehe created several more chances then any other English striker would have Wayne Rooney is a fantastic all-round playerthat plays in the holeDefoe is the best finisher we haveFabio will pick him as our No1 striker for the World Cup that I am sure!Harry is a shrewd judge and has signed him a number of timesincluding as a fifteen year oldwill some on here that dont rate himjust follow him around on a matchyou will be surprised at the chances he creates from nothing.
Notice I got something wrong? Fabio did not pick Defoe as his No1 striker.Oh well once in every Coronation!

ChrisI dont just watch a matchI follow 11 players in a team performanceI dont just listen to hypeI analyse each players inputon average a player will be in possession of the ball less than three minutes during a gameso two important issues.what he achieves with those three minutes or lessand what he does off the ball for the other 87 mins if you understand the mechanics of football you will understand this analogy the highest performance engine in the World would not run with a 10p ball bearing missingbut armchair watchers just see the game as a soap operahumour me this afternoondont just follow the ball aroundwatch players movementwatch who gets into space and wants the ballwatch the ones that recognise danger and cover for a matewatch those that pass the ball and always move into space looking for a return then watch the ones that just admire their passthen watch the ones that play Hollywood balls and then are only too happy to apologise when they give it away five minutes later [Joe Cole]watch the ones continually out of positiongiving the team a poor shapeand best of all watch Defoe hit the back of the net this afternoon!
And watch a re-run of Messi last night to see how a forward should operate.pure genius!

I have never travelled economy. Do you think the frogs are cheering England on today.
Chock dee England for today. I prey they win, but feel they are not good enough, I know each player will try his hardest, but if you are not at the top of your game someone else will beat you. A classic case Tim Henman.

In a class, the teacher is asking everyone what jobs their parents have...
Teacher to kid: and what does your dad do?
Jimmy: he's a stripper in a gay bar and often lets other men touch his privates
After class, teacher takes Jimmy to one side...
Teacher: is that true about your dad?
Jimmy: no, he plays football for england but I was too embarassed to say

Needs to score Tabby, that's his only problem as far as I can see! He looks a lot happier and his inter play with Gerrard is classic. Referee is shite, no change there then!
