Very little positive about Israel. In fact I can think of nothing. perhaps you could suggest a few things, although you might find it a bit difficult.

I notice that once again you fail to answer questions posed to you. Where is this long list of what is positive about Israel. I could give you quite a list of the negative things. Let's see who's list is longer. You go first.

Haystack, ITLOB - you can write lists as long as you like. But every point on each list will pale to tiny insignificance when weighed up against Israel's single huge major benefit: you can go there on holiday and not risk bumping into Haystack.

Once again you fail to develop any coherent argument for your case. You always resort to abuse rather than logic. It is easy for you to maintaain any position without the need to support it by evidence. I have never seen examples of your ability to engage with a point of view and discuss it with any semblance of logic or common sense.

At least I am attempting to put forward an argument and provide evidence. Neither has been forthcoming from ITLOTB. He just rants and we get abuse from him and no attempt to support his point of view.
He constantly attempts to charactarise opponents of Israel as anti-semitic despite all the evidence to the contrary. There are plenty of Jews who are anti-Israel. How does that work? Well the crazy brigade call them self hating Jews.
Don't get me wrong, I am not expecting ITLOTB to actually engage in a real discussion about Israel. It doesn't fit his profile as a rabid anti Nazi. He just fits all opposition to Israel into his nice compartmentalised world.

ah yes, i'd forgotten your wonderful objective "evidence" .... and i know you actually believe that you have either the will or the capability to enter into sensible OBJECTIVE discussion ..... very wrong!

Well, that's certainly true of ITLOTB as he never even attempts to use evidence or logic. Unfortunately, you confuse having a point of view to being bigoted. Everyone posting on here has a point of view. You would expect people to provide evidence and use logic that supports their point of view.

not so ..... but a better opinion can be divined through listening, being objective and being prepared to change one's mind if warranted ..... your own stance is tand utterly entrenched (aka bigoted) as you regularly admit or implicitly imply through your inflammatory language in posts ..... you'ld make a lousy judge, even of cream cakes at WI!

Not so, I have a strongly held position whcih does not coincide with yours or ITLOTB. I have never said that I would not change my view. I have yet to see any evidence that would persuade though. Certainly none from ITLOTB as he never provides any. At least I put forward my argument with evidence to back it up. Where is his and yours?

i don't think you even know my position, other than it does not coincide with yours .... however, i do know that i avoid, at least nearly all the time, the sort of rabble-rousing adjectives that you seem to think carry some sort of persuasion .... actually, the opposite is more likely to be the case to anyone with an engaged brain

Well, this is THE limit. In its latest issue, TIME Magazine accuses
Israelis of having it too good! They are wallowing in cash, they don't care
about peace anymore....
Sorry TIME that we didn't all go into mass depression after Oslo and the
worst terrorist attacks on a civilian population in human history. We don't
care about peace? Would you, if all your efforts resulted in streets filled
with children's blood? Brides blown up the night before their wedding?
Babies shot between the eyes by snipers?
Only 60 years after the Holocaust, Israelis took the most enormous leap of
faith, signing a peace accord with a known terrorist, shaking his hand for
Pete's sake! And when this delusional or heroic attempt at imagining the
best resulted in the worst, yes, Israelis forgot about peace, not because
they don't want it, but because they understand no one is offering it to
them.
As for Israelis being smart enough to turn their little desert into a
blooming high-tech miracle and avoid the pitfalls of the Americans who
destroyed their economy and their educational system and culture with trashy
ideas and a bleeding heart ideology, whose fault is that?
Israelis, many of whom are second or third generation survivors, have an
atom bomb hanging over their heads thanks to Americans and Europeans and
still more trashy, bleeding heart ideas. So, yes, we go to the beach. We
buy good wines. We work hard. We take care of our poor. We don't whine.
And we don't expect miracles. We expect the worst, and we make the most of
the best. That's not a source of shame. It's something the idiot at TIME,
Karl Vick, who wrote the article, and his editors and subscribers could
learn from.
And before you follow in the wake of you sister-trash-always-wrong "news"
magazine, NEWSWEEK, why not do a cover story on why Palestinians don't want
peace? I assure you that many pictures are available of Palestinians on the
beautiful beach in Gaza, in fancy hotels and restaurants. But I guess it's
not much of a news story. After all, you and the rest of the world, have
known that for years.

Talking of cut and pase, the post above is all over the internet. Here are a couple of links to it word for word.
from Moshe Preger in his blog

from the Yahoo Groups United We Stand For Israel

The post is really pointless. Who really cares whether the Israelis want peace or not. They are occupying someone else's land and that is the nub of it.

and that is why your postings are pointless as you are incapable of being objective and dispassionate ...... should the english not have houses in wales? ..... should the scots and irish be sent back whence they came? .... should the europeans be forced to vacate australia? ..... that's not dissimilar from your argument and about as stupid, though you will not be expected to agree.
since when was gaza gifted(?) or owned(?) by the residents of gaza?
are the residents of gaza the indigenous people?
of course they're not! ... they're from similar nomadic stock to the rest of the world, especially the m/e one

The Palestinians used to occupy the land where Israel is now. That can clearlly be seen by the million plus refugees that have had to leave the area and who Israel will not allow back. the majority of Israelis have no ethnic link back to Israel even thousands of years ago as they are just descendants of people who were converts to the Jewish faith. I mention the Jewish faith as Israel is not a democracy. It defines itself as a Jewish state. Countries belong to their populations. Not so with Israel. An Arab living in Israel may vote, but it is not his country by definition.
By the way, by whay legal authority does Israel bar Gaza from all exporting. how are they supposed to have an economy under those conditions
