Thought I'd start a new thread as this is going to be a major talking point this year...have not made up my mind yet...(unlike bucksfizz)....but thinking of voting for an exit as Europe is not doing Britain any good at all it seems....

"Stan, re damaging decisions, I voted for the party that would provide the best solution for the country after Labour screwed it up (again) last time."
Get it right George please for your information so called New Labour did not "screw" up the economy, that was America's fault as most informed people know.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"If you want to see damage you only have to look at Brexit, after the biggest vote in our history, with a clear majority, it should have been reasonably straight forward to implement the will of the people." - who is doing the damage? your Conservative Government that's who.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Re your evaluation of me, I know you hold me in high regard Stan, if it were otherwise quite frankly I couldn't give a fishes tit.
"
George stop trying to change the subject with a feeble attempt to divert my evaluation by bringing Fishing in to it.
Right I make that 3 more apologies you owe me...but being such kind and generous fella I'm prepared to except 1 this time.

Only way Corby could win an election is if he got his mates in Venezula to count the votes.
What did you expect from Carney Fred ? He might get something right one day.

France recall ambassador from Italy , things going well in the EU then.
Maybe we should offer to send a peace keeping force in.

Cyners,
In acknowledgement of George's peculiar fetish for fish's tits.
But a decent tranche of thonine, topped with chopped sun dried tomatoes and Cornish parmesan shavings is pretty damn tasty. Drizzle with chilli oil, and 6 or 7 minutes under the grill or on a foil tray over the barbie. Serve with a simple salad, crusty baguette and aïoli.

ah thanks .... but what a shame you do not or cannot buy fresh ..... that said, my local fishmonger/butcher smokes his own cod's roe, and that freezes and "regenerates" very well indeed ..... home-made taramasalata is well worth the calories!

I do buy a load of fresh fish in the autumn and take it up to the Alps. The coolbox plugs into the cigarette lighter in the boot. Then freeze it once we're there.
Unfortunately, we'll have to buy Parmigiano Reggiano locally if we can't get the Cornish stuff after Brexit.

silly girl :-)
try making your own tarama ...... it's not difficult provided you have a Magimix or similar, and well worth it

I don't actually recall seeing the roe for sale anywhere, cyners. I guess you must be able to get it, but where?

Thanks Fred. I don't often go to any of Les Halles, but the supermarket fish counters are pretty big.
I guess I've probably been walking past it without paying any attention to what it might be. I'll try to keep my eyes open next time.

cod's roe is only in season for a couple of months around the turn of the year and needs to be fat and plump to be good once smoked
should you find any - perhaps on the atlantic coast? - avoid any small pieces that are dark orange or hard
if smoked correctly, the skin should be tawny and the roe a slightly dusky pink and still moderately firm to the touch
zero and no chance chance to find even in large french supermarkets i am sure

fred - thanks for the useful link
if making tara, whatever that site says(!!), use 80/90% neutral oil and only a small amount of olive oil ...... too much olive oil and the end result is really nasty ...... and not too much garlic either
i'm happy to post a good recipe for tara if anyone would like

Oh dear, having bad dreams again Fred? Ask your carer for a few poppers and do try to rest. It will all be over before your 80th and then you can go out and smell the roses. Just don't go down the alley where Stan lurks. Doesn't like spending a penny y'know.
