A tip i gave recently PURE has today released news of a very substantial contract, so well worth starting up a thread as this has the making of a potential
mulibagger?

RNS Number : 3742A
PureCircle Limited
31 July 2008
PURECIRCLE LIMITED
('PureCircle' or 'the Company')
MAJOR CONTRACTS WITH PEPSICO AND WHOLE EARTH
TO SUPPLY REBAUDIOSIDE-A (REB-A*) AND EXCLUSIVE LICENSE TO MARKET REB-A UNDER THE PureVia BRAND
PEPSICO AND WHOLE EARTH INTRODUCE ALL-NATURAL, ZERO-CALORIE SWEETENER WITH PURECIRCLE-SOURCED REB-A
The Board of PureCircle announces that it has signed substantial, long-term contracts with PepsiCo and Whole Earth Sweetener Company for the supply of high purity Reb-A for use in beverages and tabletop sweeteners worldwide under the PureVia brand. In addition, PepsiCo and Whole Earth will grant PureCircle an exclusive license to market Reb-A under the PureVia brand in certain categories. PureCircle will be entitled to all profits (including sub-licensing fees) related to this exclusive licensing agreement.
PureCircle will continue to be free to sell the non-branded ingredient to all customers across all categories and geographies.
The announcement, from PepsiCo and Whole Earth Sweetener Company, states that PureVia will debut in a new nutritionally-enhanced PepsiCo beverage called 'SoBe Life,' to be launched in Latin America, starting with Peru. PureViaTM will be available initially in three SoBe Life flavour blends: Tropical-Pomegranate, Strawberry-Kiwi and Orange-Tangerine.
Meanwhile, PureVia tabletop sweetener will launch in the United States this autumn, before expanding into drink and food products around the world.
Commenting on the contract award, Magomet Malsagov, Managing Director of PureCircle, said:
'PureCircle has worked extremely hard to build a capability which can support leading food and beverage manufacturers, such as PepsiCo and Whole Earth, in bringing natural, healthy products to consumers on a worldwide basis. These contracts are an important sign of confidence in PureCircle's capabilities to deliver high quality, consistently-pure Reb-A. We look forward to further developments in this exciting market, which we believe will herald a new era in natural sweetening and engender higher expectations on product taste and delivery among consumers.'

A good write up in the Daily Mail today which should create interest on Monday
"A Sweet One To Watch by Ian Lyall
The Mail's market guru Geoff Foster has an eye for up-and-coming stock and put me on to Pure Circle, which has a revolutionary low calorie sweetener that may one day supplant costly high fructose corn syrup used in millions of fizzy drinks.
It is interesting on a number of levels. The product itself - called Reb-A, or Rebaudioside A to give its proper name - is 200 times sweeter than sugar, and because it is a plant extract has the benefit of being 100% natural, which will appease the health concious, anti-additive brigade.
Pure Circle was first formed as a technology company by a band of Russian and Armenian scientists.
But these days there is a lot more to the company, which has evolved into a fully integrated and profitable manufacturer.
It has signed a deal with a plantation firm in Kenya which will grow the Stevia Rebaudina that is then turned into Reb-A, as well as having teamed up with logistics and agribusiness specialists.
More importantly, it has customers for the product.
It has signed a deal with a mystery drinks firm, thought to be the giant Pepsico, and has ties with Cargill, the private food company that supplies Coca-Cola.
The shares have marched up from 159p in April to 243.5p (unchanged) as of the close.
But don't be too put off by this, the stock is still only valued at 4.4 times 2009 earnings, which is cheap by anyone's standards.
Profits this year should be 13.5m, moving up to 77m in 2009.
Pure Circle may drift a little until its next bit of newsflow, but represents a decent speculative punt. However, it is probably not one for widows and orphans.
Paul May, analyst at stockbroker Killik & Co, is a fan: "With the stock trading on such an undemanding PE, we are buyers of the shares".
A back-of-the-fag-packet valuation gives a share price of 450p-500p - and even that would put it on a significant discount to the sector.
Verdict: Worth a punt"

London, Sept 17 - Malaysia-based sweetener group PureCircle expects U.S. approval for its natural no-calorie sweetener Reb-A within two months which will prompt Coca-Cola and PepsiCo to launch it in their drinks within days.
The London AIM-listed group expects the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to approve the sweetener as Generally Recognised as Safe (GRAS) which will allow the natural sweetener to be launched across the U.S. food and beverage industry.
"We expect an FDA no-objection letter within two months. We don't foresee any problems. Coke and PepsiCo are ready to launch products with Reb-A as soon as possible," PureCircle's Russian managing director Magomet Malsagov said in an interview.
Approval will allow the group to break into the lucrative U.S. market for high intensity sweeteners which accounts for 60 percent of the global $1.3 billion market for sugar substitutes such as NutraSweet, Sweet'N Low and Splenda.
The soft drinks industry dominated by Coca-Cola Co and PepsiCo Inc will be key for PureCircle, and PepsiCo said it will launch a new line of its SoBe Life drink with Reb-A, under the brand name PureVia, in Latin America where the sweetener is already cleared for use.
Rebaudioside A (Reb-A) is made from certain compounds in the leaves of stevia, a shrub native to Paraguay, and PureCircle is the world's largest producer and distributor of what it says is the world's first natural high intensity sweetener with 400 times the sweetness of sugar.
Reb-A is likely to compete with established artificial sweeteners such as saccharin, aspartame and sucralose, which are sold under brand names Sweet'N Low, NutraSweet and Splenda.
Sweet'N Low is made by New York-based family-owned Cumberland Packing Corp while NutraSweet Co is owned by Boston-based private equity firm J.W. Childs Associates. Tate & Lyle makes the sucralose sweetener Splenda which accounts for around one fifth of its group profits.
Chicago-based Merisant also makes aspartame products such as Equal and Canderel.
PureCircle shares were first listed on London's junior stock market, the Alternative Investment Market (AIM), in December 2007 at 170 pence with a free float of over 30 percent. The shares close on Wednesday off 2 percent at 218p.
Malsagov says Reb-A could make inroads if consumers turn to natural alternative sweeteners with zero calories for a healthier diet, while the product has the advantage of being heat and pH stable for the food and drinks industry.
He says the group controls around 80 percent of the world crop of stevia, largely grown in Chinese plantations, but is expanding in countries such as Kenya, Uganda and Paraguay. It has an extraction plant in China and a refinery in Malaysia.
The sweetener is already approved in several countries such as China, Japan, the former Soviet Union and South America and only in the last few weeks received approval in Australia and Switzerland. Malsagov believes after FDA approval, it will take the European Union some 6-12 months to approve the product.
End-user groups such as Merisant and Cargill made the applications to the FDA in May, and should receive answers within 180 days, meaning Merisant should hear by Nov 13 and Cargill by Nov 28, Malsagov said.
Merisant is set to launch its PureVia Reb-A product after FDA approval, while Cargill has already launched its Truvia Reb-A product.
Currently, aspartame holds 44 percent of the artificial high intensity global sweetener market with sucralose on 26 percent and saccharin 11 percent, says
Approval would cement the future of this company, "big time".

PureCircle says Australia, New Zealand approve use of Reb-A in food, beverages
LONDON (Thomson Financial) - PureCircle Ltd. said the Australian and New
Zealand regulatory authority, FSANZ, has approved the use of steviol glycosides
(Reb-A) as a mainstream food and beverage ingredient.
PureCircle is the world's exclusive supplier of Reb-A, an all-natural
zero-calorie sweetener.
Magomet Malsagov, chief executive of PureCircle, said: "This is great news
and reinforces our belief that we will soon see similar approvals in the United
States, the world's largest market."

Cargill ad campaign to prepare market for stevia
By Sarah Hills, 16-Dec-2008

Cargill has begun a nationwide marketing drive to promote Truvia, its brand of natural, zero calorie stevia sweetener.
The tabletop sweetener was launched this summer but now Cargill is rolling out a marketing campaign to target health-conscious consumers, particularly women, with network television and national consumer print and online advertising.
Cargill developed the Truvia brand, made with rebiana (Reb A) derived from the stevia leaf, in partnership with Coca-Cola.
It is an ingredient for use in foods and beverages, as well as a tabletop sweetener. However, a decision on stevias FDA (Food and Drug Administration) GRAS (generally recognized as safe) status for use in food and beverages is pending.
Meanwhile the ad campaign, specifically for the tabletop variety, comes amid speculation that Coca-Cola plans to market three flavors of a juice drink in its Odwalla line sweetened with stevia this week. Coca-Cola has declined to comment.
Natural sweetness
One of the Truvia adverts includes the tagline honestly sweet and from a miracle of nature, not chemistry.
Zanna McFerson, director at Cargill Health & Nutrition, said Through research, we found that consumers are trying to live more balanced lives but have a complicated relationship with sweeteners.
The marketing campaign to launch Truvia tabletop sweetener is designed to inform consumers that for the first time, there is a natural great tasting zero calorie sweetener that comes from a leaf, not a lab.
Cargill teamed up with advertising agency Ogilvy & Mather (Chicago) for the Truvia campaign which looked at the relationship women have with sweetness.
Donna Charlton Perrin, group creative director and partner, Ogilvy, said: The advertising campaign recognizes that sweeteners often come with a healthy side serving of guilt or compromise.
To atone for dessert, you run extra miles on the treadmill. To reduce calories, you sacrifice taste and forgo the natural for the artificial.
The suggestion is that Truvia is guilt and compromise-free.
The campaign includes four 30-second television ads which focus on simple, close-up images of the stevia leaf.
Cargill said television spots will air nationally on network and cable television. Print and online ads will run on media properties focused on women and wellness.
It will also include coupons, in-store and consumer sampling programs, and an interactive campaign on the website, Truvia.com.
Stevia is permitted for sale in the US as a dietary supplement on the basis of its low glycemic index.
The Malaysian company PureCircle recently secured an extension to its agreement with Cargill to supply Reb-A until mid-2010.

8 December 2008
PURECIRCLE SET TO LEAD USA SUPPLY OF HIGH-PURITY REB A
U.S. Food and Drug Administration Issues No Objection Letter to
GRAS Status of Rebaudioside A (Reb A)
PureCircle is the world's leading vertically integrated supplier of Reb A
PureCircle's Reb A sweetened consumer products make U.S. Debut
18, December, 2008. PureCircle (LSE:PURE), the world's leading developer and producer of high purity Rebaudioside A (Reb A)* today announces that the United States Food & Drug Administration ('FDA') issued a no objection letter with respect to Reb A. This indicates the FDA has no objection to the conclusion that Reb A at a minimum specification of 95% is Generally Recognised As Safe ('GRAS') among qualified experts for use in beverages, foods and tabletop sweeteners. This response from the FDA clears the way for high-purity Reb A**, the first all-natural zero calorie sweetener, to be adopted as a key ingredient in mainstream food and beverage production.
PureCircle is the world's largest supplier of high-purity Reb A with the industry's leading vertically integrated supply chain, to secure the consistent, reliable supply of high-quality, high-purity Reb A to manufacturers who want to offer their customers healthy, natural, great tasting products. High-purity Reb A has a superior taste profile and displays excellent pH and temperature stability making it suitable for use as a sweetener ingredient across all food and beverage applications.
Commenting on the GRAS announcement, Magomet Malsagov, Chief Executive said:
'The importance of GRAS status for high-purity Reb A cannot be overstated, this marks the opening of the largest market for Reb A. Food and drink manufacturers will now be able to use it as a sweetener ingredient - either as a complement to sugar or as a healthy substitute for synthetic sweeteners - across their entire product ranges.
'As the world's leading supplier of Reb A, PureCircle is well placed to meet the expected surge in demand from the world's largest food and beverage market.
'Our Reb A supply chain is already the world's largest and we are making further investment with 50,000 MT of leaf extraction capacity coming online in March 2009 and joint venture partnerships with stevia plantations in Paraguay, Thailand, Laos, China and Kenya.
'Through the combination of PureCircle's first-mover advantage, diversified supply chain, leading technology, strong market position and strategic partnerships, the company is poised to lead the natural sweetener market into a new era.'
The FDA's issuance of a no objection letter with respect to Reb A opens the USA market for PureCircle who will offer a full application and formulation service for the supply of PureVia TM Reb A as an ingredient. The announcement also confirms, at a minimum specification of 95%, the purity levels of Reb A which are approved in the US, clearly differentiating Reb A from the traditional stevia extract market.
Earlier in the year PureCircle announced contract extensions with Cargill and major new contracts with PepsiCo and Whole Earth Sweetener Company for the supply of high purity Reb A in beverages, foods and tabletop sweeteners worldwide including the exclusive license to market PureViaTM Reb A as an ingredient.
Uniquely, PureCircle can offer food and beverage manufacturers the opportunity to use the PureVia endorsement as the ultimate natural sweetness and healthy lifestyle solution to win consumer appeal. Additionally, PureCircle will continue to be free to sell the non-branded ingredient to customers across all categories and geographies.
PepsiCo has announced the launch of zero-calorie SoBe Lifewater and Tropicana's new light orange juice Trop50, and Whole Earth Sweetener Company has launched PureViaTM Tabletop Sweetener using Reb A. Cargill and Coca-Cola have also announced the launch of their respective range of products.
Magomet Malsagov, adds:
'Consumers are demanding a natural and healthy solution to the global obesity epidemic and other health issues resulting from high calorific ingredients in mainstream products. As an all-natural and calorie-free product, Reb A is seen as providing that solution.'
I will be disappointed if we don't finish above 150p today.

Saccharin, Nutrasweet & Splenda (McNeil Nutritionals Ltd) are all presumably brands owned by the big boys, such as Tate & Lyle, so they aren't going to sit back and let PURE encroach too far in to their market?
As you can probably tell, I haven't yet done loads of research on this subject, but the old addage of 'buy on rumour, sell on fact' may hold true here, as the sp seems to be going up too far, too fast, imo.
EDIT: Nutrasweet (Canderel) which is Aspartame seems to be the biggest competitor, which is in many foodstuffs including soft drinks, chewing gum, canned desserts etc, but there seems to be a very tiny risk that Aspartame is linked to health risks, including allergies, which is possibly why food processors are keen to find other sweeteners with (allegedly) no risks.

Taken from another board, giving an idea of the potential,
It's not just the earmigs forecast and the growth -
The important things to remember about Purecircle's Reb-A product is firstly it is 200 times sweeter than sugar - in other words, one teaspone is equivalent to a bag of sugar more or less.
The second important point is that it's a natural sweetner rather than Splenda or any of the other current sweetners that are derivitives of sucralose. These are synthetic and known as 'artificial sweetners'. Reb-A is a natural sweetner.
Lastly and very important is the fact that stuff like Splena are not stable under high temperature so they aren't much good for loe calorie cakes and sweets where as Reb-A is very stable at high temperatures.
Splenda doesn't taste very much like sugar, it's swee but has a different taste profile that affects the taste of the food, High purity Reb-A is calorie free in addition to having an appealing taste profile similar to that of sugar.
It's also about volume that can be produced and with Purecircle's joint venture in China they will be able to scale up very fast compared to the competition.

PureCircle Limited
Exclusive Global Strategic Collaboration with Firmenich on All-Natural Zero-Calorie Sweetener for Food & Beverage Market
PureCircle (LSE:PURE), the world's leading developer, producer and marketer of high-purity Rebaudioside A (Reb A), the first all-natural zero calorie sweetener, announces today an exclusive global strategic collaboration with Firmenich, the world's largest privately-owned fragrance and flavour company, to accelerate the commercialisation of Reb A in the global food and beverage industry.
PureCircle, is the world's largest supplier of high-purity Reb A which can be used as a key ingredient in mainstream food and beverages.
In December 2008, PureCircle announced that the United States Food & Drug Administration ('FDA') had issued a no objection letter with respect to high-purity Reb A, formally giving high-purity Reb A Generally Recognised As Safe ('GRAS') status for use in beverages, foods and tabletop sweeteners, either as a complement to sugar or as a healthy substitute for synthetic sweeteners. The FDA's response effectively opened the United States, the world's largest market, for high-purity Reb A to be adopted as a key ingredient in mainstream food and beverage production and across entire product ranges. Food and drink manufacturers in the United States are already using high-purity Reb A as a sweetener ingredient.
Firmenich has developed innovative flavour systems for Reb A, which will be rolled out across food and beverage applications. Under the terms of the collaboration, Firmenich and PureCircle will combine to offer natural flavour and sweetening solutions to category leaders in the global food and beverage market.
Commenting on the collaboration, Magomet Malsagov, Chief Executive Officer of PureCircle, said:
'Health and wellness is at the top of our customers' innovation agenda as they increasingly respond to consumer demand for healthier food and beverage products. The all-natural and calorie-free sweetener, Reb A, is seen as providing that solution.
'Combining Firmenich's world class flavour ability and global reach, with the ground- breaking low calorie natural sweetening that Reb A provides, is a major event in the food and beverage industry. Calorie reduction is a major development platform in all key application areas.'
Patrick Firmenich, CEO of Firmenich, added:
'Reducing sugar in food and beverage products, while maintaining consumer preference, is one of the biggest challenges in our business today. By combining PureCircle's know-how in Reb A with Firmenich's expertise in sweetness enhancement and flavour masking, I believe that we can fulfil consumer desires for great tasting, low sugar, low calorie foods and beverages.'

TATE is about twice the price per share, but pays a dividend; + is UK-based, lots of history and full-list.
PURE has a lower sp despite excitement (here) on risk, is US-based, on AIM (for now), and is attempting to compete in a Market with well-established players.

Looks like their're building up a world class team?
PureCircle Grows International Sales & Marketing Team
19 January 2009: PureCircle (LSE:PURE), the world's leading developer, producer and marketer of high-purity Rebaudioside A (Reb A), the first all-natural zero calorie sweetener, announces the expansion of its international sales and marketing team, with two key appointments from within the sweetener industry. Angus Flood has moved from Fusion Nutraceuticals to be Head of International Marketing and Erik Bcs has joined from Nestle to be Vice President European Sales, both based in PureCircle's Geneva office.
Bringing expert industry talent to PureCircle, Angus and Erik will drive the global leader's international sales and marketing of high-purity Reb A in markets such as South America, Asia, Europe/UK, New Zealand and Australia.
PureCircle is consolidating its first-mover advantage and building a leading sales and marketing team to support the development of operations in the world's key markets. The appointments follow that of Jordi Ferre who joined from Tate & Lyle to spearhead development of the U.S business following the opening of the market with GRAS status for high-purity Reb A.
Commenting on the appointments, Peter Milsted, Director, Marketing and Sales of PureCircle, said:
'We are delighted to have Angus and Erik join our international sales and marketing team. This comes at an exciting time for the company as markets around the world begin to open up to high-purity Reb A, the first all-natural zero calorie sweetener to be used in mainstream food and beverages. Opening of the U.S market should pave the way for regulatory changes in other key markets, most importantly in Europe,' he said.
PureCircle has a strategic collaboration with Firmenich to accelerate the commercialisation of high-purity Reb A in the global food and beverage industry. Under terms of the agreement, Firmenich and PureCircle will offer natural flavour and sweetening solutions to category leaders.
'With a corporate office in Switzerland, the heart of the flavours and colours industry for Europe, a collaboration with Firmenich and the expansion of our international sales and marketing team, we are well placed to work with global food and beverage manufacturers in anticipation of further regulatory approval for high-purity Reb A in this market,' said Peter Milsted.
Angus brings 19 years' specialist natural food marketing and brand experience to PureCircle. He joins from Fusion Nutraceuticals, where he was Marketing Director responsible for the SucraPlus brand, competing with Tate and Lyle's Spenda. Angus has also served on a variety of marketing committees including the Food and Drink Federation, and has lectured on natural brand development at Leatherhead Food International.
Erik Bcs has 16 years international food and beverage experience with Nestle and Givaudan. Erik was most recently Business Development Manager, Nestle Middle East. Previously, Erik held technical commercial positions with Givaudan, across Europe and was also Export Manager for Mediterranean countries. Erik brings a wealth of technical product development and sales experience to PureCircle.

will always be appreicated by the market, given time. Especially like the fact, that Angus Flood has thrown his lot in having competed directly with T&L in this market.
I believe the saying Rome wasn't built in a day is appropriate here and the Finals due on the 4th March will make interesting reading, giving one a chance to top up in mean time, maybe as low as 150p?

we can't be far of approval from Europe?
Just finished a conversation with my partner who lives in Berlin.Said there was a major documentary on Stevia on one of the TV channels...showing all the benfits of the sweetener.Germans are apparently furious that stevia is not already approved in Europe for use as a food additive and they are putting pressure on the Government to get it approved as soon as possible..

Another great appoitment, making it truely international. All we need now is some sale contracts, which hopefully news of will come the results?
PureCircle (LSE:PURE), the world's leading developer, producer, and marketer of high purity Rebaudioside A (Reb A) announces a major addition to its international sales team with a key appointment from within the ingredients industry. Chris Hession joins the Group as Vice President Sales, for Australasia, China and Japan.
Chris brings ten years of food ingredients industry experience and joins PureCircle from McCormick Foods where he was Regional Sales Manager for Asia, Australia and New Zealand.
Previously, he was with The NutraSweet Company.
This appointment follows that of Jordi Ferre who joined PureCircle from Tate & Lyle to spearhead the commercial development of Reb A in the United States. In December 2008, the US FDA issued a 'no-objection' letter, giving high-purity Reb A Generally Recognised As Safe ('GRAS') status, which allows high-purity Reb A to be adopted as a key ingredient in mainstream food and beverage production and across entire product ranges. Food and drink manufacturers in the United States are already using high-purity Reb A as a sweetener ingredientfollowing the opening of the market with GRAS status for high-purity Reb A.
Commenting on the appointment, Peter Milsted, Executive Vice President, Marketing and Sales of PureCircle, said:
'We are delighted to have someone of Chris' calibre and experience joining our team. Markets around the world are increasingly adopting high-purity Reb A, the first all-natural zero calorie sweetener to be used in mainstream food and beverages. Chris's arrival, along with other recently announced appointments, will further enable us to build on our first-mover advantage.'

Just 7 trading days to the results, we could see a lot of t10's coming in? Shame
about the poor market conditions at present which might hold back the SP,even so i'm expecting positive results to drive the company forward and as mentioned a contract or 2 won't do any harm?

Rumour of the day
Shares in Purecircle, the Malaysian sweetener group, have had a good run since mid-January and added another 3p to close at 192p yesterday. Speculation in the City is that the AIM-listed company is set to report strong results early next month and is also sitting on a number of big contract wins. The group has already made deals with PepsiCo and Cargill.

Gross margins improved 9 percentage points from 31% to 40% but, with projected volumes for FY2009 running at just 17.5% of December 2009 refinery capacity, the Group has significant potential to improve margins further as refining throughput increases and the Group reaps the benefits of economies of scale.
The Group has a robust balance sheet with net assets of US$86.0 million and a strong cash position of US$27.3 million.

Disappointing responce to the half year report, thought we might test 200p seeing
as it broke 190p a few weeks ago. A very positive upbeat set of results and i think this view copied from elsewhere say's it all,
Well, little action on these results, I guess because things are simply "on track". I think everyone invested here is aware of ramifications for growth companies when targets are not achieved. The last few paragraphs of the chairmans statement sum up pretty nicely what we are paying for.
Events are moving on at a pace in the wider market. With widespread regulatory clearances and many major product launches, it is clear that this is going to be a large global industry.
PureCircle is the undisputed market leader. We are demonstrably scaling our business rapidly and we have robust plans in place to keep doing so.
This is an exciting time for PureCircle. As with all businesses, but we look forward to reporting on further progress.
So you either believe and happy to hold as contract news could be just around the corner, or sell and possibly miss the boat.

Says The AIM & PLUS Newsletter
THE BUSINESS
Purecircle is the worlds leading producer, supplier and marketer of Rebaudioside-a (commonly known as Reb-a) a natural, zero-calorie high intensity sweetener which is extracted from the stevia plant. The sweetener has a host of characteristics that make it ideal for use as a sugar substitute. it is similar in taste to sugar, can be used in cooking without impairing the flavour of food and, crucial for addressing the increasing worldwide trend towards healthier diets, contains zero calories. Reb-a is 300 times sweeter than sugar, is completely natural, causes no problems for diabetics and does not damage teeth.
Purecircle currently supplies a number of sweetening products to the market including Purevia, a high purity form of Reb-a, Reb a-75, another natural sweetener which is less sweet than Reb-a, greenlite, a calorie free table top range of stevia and Sweta, the wholesale stevia extract for use in food and beverage manufacture.
The company is a completely vertically integrated supplier, sourcing stevia leaves, extracting, refining and marketing its products to potential customers in the food and beverage industries. its extraction plant is located in china, and with the capacity to produce 1,000 metric tonnes of stevia extract annually it is currently the worlds largest extraction facility. To serve the expected increase in demand for Reb-a in the next few years, capacity is set to rise to 4,000 metric tonnes in March 2009. Supporting the extraction plant is the worlds largest state-of-the-art refining plant in Malaysia, which is currently able to produce 1,000 metric tonnes of high purity Reb-a per annum. Work has started to double capacity to 2,000 metric tonnes.
CURRENT TRADING
In the 12 months to 30th June 2008 Purecircle more than trebled revenues from $11 to $33.4 million. net profits adjusted for forex losses and share based payments grew from $0.3 million to $3.8 million, with earnings adjusted on the same basis up from 0.2 cents per share to 2.9 cents. at the period end the balance sheet showed net cash of $16.6 million.
A significant barrier was overcome in December last year when the US regulatory body, the Food & Drug Administration (FDA), issued a no objection letter with respect to Reb-a. This response means that the FDA has no objection to the conclusion that Reb-a, at a minimum specification of 95%, is considered to be GRAS, or generally Recognised as Safe, amongst experts for use in beverages, food and tabletop sweeteners. This decision opened up the massive potential of the US market for Purecircle and clears the way for the company to embark on its strategy of making Reb-a a mainstream, zero calorie sweetener. On the back of this expected announcement Cargill formally launched its national marketing campaign for its Truvia brand of sweetener and Pepsico and Whole Foods began shipping their Purevia tabletop sweetener, which is now available for sale in the US. Pepsico has also launched several zero-calorie products including SoBe lifewater (the advertising. in July last year Olam Wilmar investments, a venture formed by two of the leading Asian agricultural businesses Olam and Wilmar, took a 20% stake in Purecircle. The partnership will work with the company in order to increase stevia production globally through the development of new plantations and expansion of stevia extract facilities. in addition, Purecircles supply chain will be strengthened by having access to the partnerships extensive and purchasing, warehousing and logistics capabilities, particularly in China.

From FTWeekend 12th July:
"It is amazing what happens when the market gets the wrong end of the stick. Purecircle, the malaysian company, put out a trading update on wednesday that most chief executives would die for! Sales up 85%, annual profits to quintuple & talks in progress with more than 100 food & beverage brands following the approval of the product by the US FDA. Bear in mind the company has already secured PepsiCo & Cargill (Coke) as anchor customers. but the shares fell 17% because the statement reported sales of 264 tonnes of REB A, below matket expectations of 350 tonnes. Then on thursday, Liberum Capital published research in to the company, which raised $50m at 170p a share when it joined AIM in december 2007, valuing each share at 410p. The shares responded by rising 29% to 210p on thursday & closed yesterday 222.5p "

PureCircle said the full FY net profit benefits of its geared business model are not expected to be evident until H2, reflecting the H2 weighting of sales.
H1 sales are expected to be $43m, an increase of 24% against 1H FY14 ($34.8m). There was growth in sales across all its global sales regions and in all of its ingredients.
The growth in sales was primarily driven by new innovations in PureCircle's proprietary Stevia 3.0 TM portfolio of all-natural, no-calorie sweeteners and natural flavour systems.
It said H1 gross margin, operating margin and EBITDA are expected to increase in line with the increase in sales revenues.
The Group's H1 net result is expected to improve at least 50% compared to net result in H1 2014. In H1 the group completed a $44m share placement and renewed and restructured its principal bank facilities onto a new $71m five year facility.
The Group ended 1H FY15 with net debt of $52m (1H FY14 $85m) and cash and facility headroom of $76m (1H FY14 $59m). The Group is sufficiently funded for its current expansion plans.

PureCircle said its sales for FY16 are expected to be not less than $138 million, an increase of $11 million (9%) on FY15, as sales grew in all regions.
"During FY16 our future sales pipeline again increased, underpinned by contributions from our extended portfolio of stevia innovation," the company said in a statement.
"But as we noted in April a number of planned customer launches have been delayed into FY17."
Margins are expected to have strengthened considerably in FY16 with EBITDA expected to be $37 million (FY15 $23 million), an increase of 60% and net profit expected to be $15 million (FY15 $4 million) an increase of 275%.
The net profit is stated after charging $2m of costs associated with our main market listing in October 2015.
"Our margin improvement principally reflects the contribution from our expanded high purity stevia portfolio," PureCircle said.
"In addition, there was some moderation in leaf costs and there was some contribution from favourable foreign exchange, although less so than in the first half of the year."
The Group is expected to end FY16 with net debt of $51 million (FY15 $46 million) and headroom of 78 million (FY15 88 million). The Group was operating cash flow positive in FY16, before production capacity expansion.
The shipments detained by the CBP in May 2016 referred to in our 2 June 2016 statement have now been released by the CBP for import into the United States.
The Company continues to work actively with the CBP to effect a full resolution of the issue for further shipments. The Company will update the Market with relevant news on this as and when appropriate progress is made.

Beverage sweetener manufacturer PureCircle said its annual loss widened after it was hit by adverse currency movements and a one-off US tax charge.
The company booked a net loss of $4.0m, widening from a $0.7m loss a year earlier.
Sales increased by 13% to $53.5m, but operating profit decreased by 44% to $3.1m on the back of margin contraction.
Margins were adversely impacted by currency fluctuations, sales mix and the transition to an improved leaf variety, the company said.
Adjusted Ebitda, however, increased by 21.9% to $7.8m.
