That's the spirit, go SEY!! Looking at the chart, it's easy to see what happens after a period of consolidation. A couple of double bottoms then up we go, such a cracking chart.

Drilling update tomorrow and hopefully news out this week re the West African investment. Also, remember what happened when an unexpected drilling RNS came out a few weeks ago. Plenty of newsflow to come here for us.

Thanks to PTH for posting the chart, always good to look at it!

This out this evening from UK-Analyst.com's Stcokmarket Reporter:

"Shares in Sterling Energy jumped after it confirmed that it was in advanced discussions concerning an investment in West Africa. The company said this followed weekend speculation of a large deal and today's jump in its share price. The stock finished the session up 1.5p to 20p."

Bring on tomorrow! Early start!

More uptrend please...

chinapete - 25 Oct 2004 21:36 - 1022 of 7811

"Can't get a quote for ROC, broker won't accept it?" from seawallwalker.

Only 1605 shares in ROC sold today, the Co. has a market cap. of 135m! Are they suspended?

chinapete - 25 Oct 2004 21:55 - 1023 of 7811

Sorry, went off at half cock, never looked at them before. The market cap. presumably refers to the the Australian exchange, they could be miniscule here, and it all could be innocent.

They are a bit wobbly at the moment though!

seawallwalker - 25 Oct 2004 23:13 - 1024 of 7811

Yes they are.

The silence encountered from last weeks non appearance of a trading statement, rings bells with me.

Time will tell though.

From the Independent.co.uk:

"Sterling Energy 20p (up 1.5p, 8.1 per cent). Confirms that it is in talks aimed at a major investment by the company in West Africa."

seawallwalker - 26 Oct 2004 07:45 - 1027 of 7811

ROC Oil has been slippped in the calander today for a trading statement as a matter of interest.

gavdfc - 26 Oct 2004 07:54 - 1028 of 7811

Would that be an actual trading statement or just a drilling update which Roc released earlier? I notice from the calender that HRN shows a trading statement due today, but they released the drilling update.

seawallwalker - 26 Oct 2004 07:56 - 1029 of 7811

These items should be different.

The forward diary has not so far recorded drilling updates.

Eggs on toast with HP (brarn) sauce.

Yummy!

IanT(MoneyAM) - 26 Oct 2004 07:58 - 1030 of 7811

Guys,

We do at the moment have to classify drilling updates as trading statements - I will look to see if we can add a new category to cover drilling updates for you.

Ian

seawallwalker - 26 Oct 2004 08:00 - 1031 of 7811

That explains all!

Thanks for that Ian.

Very astute observation gavdfc

gavdfc - 26 Oct 2004 08:01 - 1032 of 7811

Thats what i thought SWW, Maybe both will release a trading update later today. As for ROC, that was just me think out aloud. They do have quite a bit of West Afrcian exposure so I just put 2 and 2 together and came out with 5!

What did you make of the drilling update? All seems to me to be ticking along nicely amd we should get some results soon.

Eggs on toast beats my cereal!

seawallwalker - 26 Oct 2004 08:08 - 1033 of 7811

Well, it's more of the same.

I know a little about geology, enough to follow but they never quite release enough. In my view properly cautious.

Nice to see the Moneyam Team taking an interest in our bb.

Probably heard they can pick up a few cooking tips and dinner party ideas here!!

seawallwalker - 26 Oct 2004 08:26 - 1034 of 7811

Price dropping off today already.

May be a buying opportunity coming, maybe not.

Right, off to the sea wall.

Back in 2 hours or so.

gavdfc - 26 Oct 2004 08:33 - 1035 of 7811

Ian, many thanks for that. Seems that team SEY and it's thread is spreading, a cracking share complete with the added bonus of cooking tips!

From the drilling updates we have had, it seems to me that all concerned are working fast and very efficiently. Where else would we find a company with such an extensive drilling program with the weekly drilling updates that we get here. From the shareholders point of view, it's good to be regularly updated on the progress.

Price fell back a touch but now just ticked up again. No worries here.

Enjoy your walk SWW.

hilary - 26 Oct 2004 08:51 - 1036 of 7811

Are you and Doris long of these then Ian?

:o)

sandrew64 - 26 Oct 2004 09:59 - 1037 of 7811

Just having a cup of tea and a yum yum after topping up with a few more SEY shares!

gavdfc - 26 Oct 2004 10:08 - 1038 of 7811

A yum yum!! Not heard of these in years! Is that a long softish pastry type cake with icing sugar on it? Just away to make a cuppa, but no yum yum!

proptrade - 26 Oct 2004 10:18 - 1039 of 7811

morning all, sorry i am late...setting up a new trading desk. always fun, needed to install java just to get back on this site.

we love a bit of consolidation. as usual with these weekly updates about one in four says anything of consequence so this slight slip is good for those looking to add.

great chart earlier, when u are so close to the action (tick by tick) you sometimes miss just what a meteoric rise we have witnessed over the last few months. goes to show that the buy and hold strategy is alive and kicking...trade out at your peril!

Ian, thx for joing this little team and any contribution in a trading, admin or gastronomic capacity is always welcome.
