PIPEX COMMUNICATIONS - TIPPED FOR 2004 (PXC)

moneyman - 03 Jan 2004 20:03

Tipped by the independent 2/01/2004

........."And so to our traditional "wild card". Pipex Communications, formerly known as GX Networks, is a telecoms company created by one of the entrepreneurs behind Ukbetting, Peter Dubens. It has been assembled from six smaller players. The ambitious company is generating cash for the first time but is still not widely followed in the City. It could be an undiscovered gem".

Once the new season gets underway, PIPEX advertising will be on the TV (shirts / ground) just about every day. I'm not too sure if anyone pays any particular attention to the Fulham Chairman. Good news as far as i am concerned.

A greater of exposure of the ISP brand PIPEX as a familiar household name, consistenly seen daily in newspaper sports pages and on TV, will only help to promote the increase in Broadband customers and subscription revenue for the company. As Pipex is already profitable and set for further growth this can only be seen as a good sign.

I also note from RNS today that the Canada Life Group of Companies has a major holding of 68,650,000 Ordinary Shares representing 3.13% of Pipex. Although the RNS doesn't disclose the number of shares and whether bought or sold, I assume the RNS means that these have been a buy and perhaps indicates why the share price has remained depressed whilst the MM's have gathered this stock.

If this is correct and Canada Life has been the only major institutional buy order for MM's to fill, then perhaps the SP will now get back up to 12p as recommends and rumour suggest this to be a fair value. If there are any more large institutional buy orders waiting on the side lines to be filled then a rise in the SP to expected levels is IMO not to hopeful that it will.

Should no-one arrive on the scene to take over PXC in the immediate future, and the company carries on making profits, when is dividend likely?

Oakapples142 - 22 Apr 2005 13:39 - 1121 of 1874

May have to await Fulham winning the Premiership !!

Troys - 22 Apr 2005 14:49 - 1122 of 1874

No chance of a divi then oakapples142?

Oakapples142 - 22 Apr 2005 16:49 - 1123 of 1874

Too right Troys - I am a life long supporter of the team just up the road !! no longer so keen however given the obscene wages now dished out - spend my spare money on the Stock Market now rather than 60+ on a Saturday. Nice win overall to-day and with just one "own goal" Mediwatch. Monday should be even more interesting that usual

PIPEX Communications plc

Acquisition of Donhost Limited for 5.9m

Strengthens hosting offering and takes total PIPEX hosting customers to over
250,000 and domain name registrations to over 1 million

PIPEX Communications plc ('PIPEX'), the telecoms network operator and provider
of hosting and broadband solutions, is pleased to announce the acquisition of
Donhost Limited ('Donhost'), the dedicated and shared hosting and domain name
business.

Donhost is a web hosting business providing shared and dedicated servers,
reseller solutions, domain name registration and Internet access to business and
residential customers in the UK and worldwide. As at the end of March 2005
Donhost had 92,000 end customers for hosting services and 120,000 domain names,
which takes the total number of domain name registrations for the PIPEX group to
over 1 million.

Donhost has been profitable and cash generative under its founder and Managing
Director Daniel Conlon. During the year ended 31, December 2004 Donhost's
unaudited turnover was 1.3 million and unaudited PBT was 707,000. Donhost
brings with it cash balances of 1.4 million at acquisition. Over the last 12
months Donhost has grown substantially, benefiting from the increasing demand
for sophisticated web hosting solutions fulfilled by its range of fully managed
servers.

Donhost's staff will continue to operate the company and service its customers
and Daniel Conlon will remain within the PIPEX group. Both companies are
optimistic about the opportunities created for cost savings and cross-selling.

PIPEX has acquired Donhost for a total consideration of 5.9 million which will
be satisfied by cash consideration of 4.1 million and 1.8 million in Ordinary
Shares of 1p each in PIPEX at a price of 7.75p. The 22,840,000 Ordinary Shares
are expected to be admitted to AIM by 29 April 2005.

Peter Dubens, Chairman of PIPEX, said:

'As shown by our recent preliminary results, PIPEX now has an extremely strong
product portfolio comprising broadband, hosting and network services. Having
completed the integration of Host Europe and Nildram over the last 8 months, we
are now well placed to further strengthen the hosting part of our portfolio with
the acquisition of Donhost. I am confident that its product set and extremely
efficient reseller model will enhance our current hosting offering and we look
forward to working with Donhost's staff and customers.
