........."And so to our traditional "wild card". Pipex Communications, formerly known as GX Networks, is a telecoms company created by one of the entrepreneurs behind Ukbetting, Peter Dubens. It has been assembled from six smaller players. The ambitious company is generating cash for the first time but is still not widely followed in the City. It could be an undiscovered gem".

Tried to sign a friend up to Pipex Broadband from his home today. He doesnt have a connection of any kind so we rang, and rang, and rang, and rang and finally gave up,rang BT, and signed up with them.
If you don't answer your phones you don't get the money - 1st rule of business.

I still think the mms will take us by surprise at anytime and that the sp will be suddenly marked up out of the blue..particularly if there are good trading updates/contracts/deals announced...quality will be recognised sooner or later...stay with it.... good time to top up !

Shares today
"Pipex and Vanco have been firm buys in Shares for some time now and remain so"
Quote from interview with the telecoms analyst Matthew Pearson of Investec :
"Pipex is our favourite of the reseller models. The group has been kicking out cash and it still looks significantly undervalued"

there was also some text in regards to not buying Telcos in the same Shares mag.......think it was in the "Buy in May...." article on page 13 ??
I have come across this before.....the changes in telcos doesn't seem to be following any certain manner, and even with the new VOIP products, the telcos themselves don't really have any idea what the take-up will be like - as there are up to 4 ways (i think) in which this works, and knowing what the businesses and consumers will really go for is a tough call (had some product training at work = Telco co. and that is what i was told by the Account Manager that gave us the speil on products)
then there is the battle for BT line rental versus no BT line rental etcetc....
however, PXC seems to have gone down a good route with the web-hosting side of things, and also with Wimax.....being able to use your wireless broadband connection further away from your home is (i believe) one of those things that will really take off.....and come to think of it, i reckon that VOIP will be taken up more once something lke Wimax kicks in.
the fact that Fulham are still in the Premiership will also help them !!! only because they will be seen on TV a great deal of times.....
USB also took a sizeable chunk not to long ago, so i think that in 12 months time, the sp will be a great deal higher than it is today......patience.....

I think many companies will switch to VOIP once their existing contracts expire.

Could be worse.... SPS for example give all their small share holders the cold shoulder. I'm feeling the chill and I have the heating on MAX! lol

Very true Woody. I have believed for a considerable period of time that Pipex are a very attractive to Institutions and hence the SP seems to be held back whilst these guys get onboard. I note a 500k protected trade has been worked through today at a premium to the offer at 7.77p. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see another RNS in the near future announcing another significant holding. Eventually they will get going and 7.5p will be a distant memory!
