Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).
Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.
cheers GF.

OK, my take on the parking ticket.
This is how I would have dealt with the situation, if it was as stated.
Although as a Police Officer (retired) we tended to leave parking enforcement to traffic wardens.
I would have waited near to the vehicle for a few minutes and if the person had returned in that time, I would have explained the reason why they were leaving themselves open to a ticket, then depending on their attitude, I would have dealt appropriately.
If I had started to complete the ticket, I would have then listened to any explanation.
If the explanation was as stated, I would have explained that as I had commenced completion, the ticket would have to be issued (this takes away the accusation of bribery). But I would then have explained that as I could now see the ticket was 'very recent issue' that I would attach a note explaining the circumstances with a recommendation that if the disabled badge holder sent in an explanatory letter with proof of issue date, IE a photocopy of 1st issue, it would likely be canceled, which it almost certainly would.
I always found that fair but firm was always the best way to deal with most law breakers, especially of the more minor type such as the one mentioned.
It often surprised me how many receivers of 'tickets' thanked me, far more than those who gave verbal abuse.
I found that more people get annoyed at 'attitude' than the actual penalty.
I must add, I was not a soft touch, but I was known for my no nonsense approach.

A disabled person that I am due to an horrific assault which the perbitrator got 12 months inside, who had already spent 7 yrs inside for armed robbery. At the time little did I know that. I once parked outside Argos in a no pay car park, I admit I parked in a disabled bay and entered Argos, I realised I had not put my badge in and went back to my car to see a male uniformed jumped up little wazzoc writing a ticket. I said Oh! I am sorry I forgot to put my badge in. His reply was "If one if priviledged to own a disabled badge then one should use it, you have been here for 6 minutes without displaying a badge". Oh! I thought priviledged I put my life on the line at the age of 45yrs old and unfortunately have never worked since (I do appreciate he had a njob to do and told him same) - I appealed and was refused, 60 fine, the moral of this story is:- the bastard who made me disabled probably only did one quarter of 12 months and I am now 63 and still living in pain - where is Justice. I sincerely hope the elderley gentelman gets his appeal.

Are you sick, sad or perverse? I am sure most peole know what a holder looks like. I am sure that the gentleman in question does not need reminding anymore which way up it is supposed to go in his window screen. Nobody knows what tomorrow brings so please show a little kindness or don't bother with absurd comments please and could you not refer to the sender of this original mishap as to the persons father instead of The Old Chap? How can we teach respect when obviously you do not have any. Good night.

Re the Caterham,
No doubt people will call me a spoil sport but having raced at Donington and Silverstone, the place for driving the Caterham at the speed shown should be limited to the race track, not the road.
You would not like to be pulling out of a junction when this driver was approaching.
It is though a cracking experience.
Note......The latest Caterham accelerates at just less than 3 secs to reach 0 to 60.

The Lotus 7 is one of my favorite cars of all time.
Can you get better lines than the series 2 built in 1965.

Here we go again , let's send a few thousand to the Uk
British government's response.
"In our view humanitarian and refugee issues are best dealt with in the region of origin, or by asylum seekers claiming protection in the first safe country they reach."
So why are there asylum seekers from all over the World living in Britain ?

Aldwickk,
Where is your compassion?
Remember that it is always better to give than to receive (thats why the church is so rich).
I will never send money to any foreign country, until it can be shown that most of it does not end in the pockets of the few who rule these countries.
We are all equal. Its just that some are more equal than others.
Charity begins at home.
I am sending any spare cash to those poor travelers who are being unfairly evicted from their homes at Dale Farm.
After all where is the justification in evicting these hard working, tax paying people who have for 10 years been allowed to contravene the planning laws that we none travelers have to obey.
Its pure harassment.
Poor lambs!
